Ok I know I will take some heat for this, but I was thinking about how cool it would be to show up in a Mech with a Nascar paint scheme - for example the M and M's #18 of Kyle Busch, the silver and red of #14 of Tony Stewart, or my fave the all black of #3 Dale Earnhardt Sr.. Cool? Lame? Thoughts?

I had my car's alignment checked - it was chaotic evil......

Not so strange. I can imagine this on Solaris VII. I even made a Locust model where I replaced the arm weapons with huge speakers, gave it an Apple green and cherry red paint scheme, purple neon under lighting on the lower legs, and stuck R-Type decals on it.

-edit- Found my old model! Unfortunately the 1024 rez texture doesn't show the details.

I'm slowly making a centurion paint job with #18's endorsements. Hard to get good stock photos though.

I entered this thread expecting discussion of battlemech racing.

I am leaving this thread disappointed.

Seriously... how long can a person watch Battlemechs run in counter-clockwise circles? ;)

That said... I bet very few Mech pilots would be willing to take pole position considering everyone behind them will be armed to the teeth...

Now I miss the Solaris VII megamek server... They had a race track map that tested your tactical and piloting skills.

For some reason when I read about 'Mech's and Nascar' I instantly thought of the 'race' in Chrono Trigger.

You need to come hang out with the Bears in MWLL, at one point we had hover tank harasser races. Ancient Demise, one of the unit's Star Captains and a very talented community mapper for MWLL had remade a MArio Kart track and it was damn fun!

Damn I thought this thread was similar to death race.
Whoever makes it to the finish line wins.

Now I remember that... if you are talking about racing Aerospace fighters on a race track, that was about as much fun as u can have on any megamek server...

Well from what I recall the race track does not just have mechs racing, it has hexes that if you pass through them, like oil slicks, can cause piloting rolls, some are bonus time hexes, that lower your overall time in the race, and running outside of the race course is a time penalty for each hex spent out side the track. It was actually very tricky and a challenge to make the perfect maneuvers from what I recall.

When I think of mechracing and megamek, I cannot help but think of what happens when running and turning on pavement.
I can just imagine it...

"Needs X. Rolls Y. Fails.
Mech A skids into hex ####, collides into Mech B.
Mech A takes damage to $$$$.
Mech A destroyed by damage!
Mech B must make piloting check... Fails..."

That is exactly what happened.
