GW2 worth it or naught?

If you want support like healers... avoid it.
Otherwise you are probably fine. For me... I tried it and turns out I cant stand it. I mean seriously, if you use a 2h sword you get 5 skills forced on you. No pool to choose from, no your main hand/off hand just give you your 5 skills. Period.
Than you get one heal slot. Everyone has one heal, no more no less. It just feels like some child safety. If you give players the freedom to actually create their own build they will probably fail, so why even give them an option. I really hate that.
I suppose its bit like if you had only stock mechs in MWO. It prevents people from fail builds like a mech that would shut down every shot but for me it takes the fun out of it.
Also it feels like they made sure that you wont have to form groups. Spells normally dont affect a team but an area. They dont really have healers anyway so why have a group window? And quests are for an area not a group. So while you will do quests automatically with other people who happen to be in the same area there is really no reason or real advantage to group up unless you are playing with friends. Of course that might change if you go into dungeons.
That being said they do have some nice looking world vs world pvp.
In the end you might have to look for yourself, its no game for me but I have friends who enjoy it.

Okay, how long did you play before giving up, and did you keep track of the development prior to release?
The reason I ask is that the first 5 slots being dictated by weapon set was known a long time ago, same for the healing skill for every class. That being said, most classes have more than 1 healing skill to choose from, and you can switch it around pretty much on the fly. You also didn't mention the 4 other skill slots that hold your utility skills, from which there are a lot to choose from. I'm playing a Ranger currently, I've got 3 possible heals and 24 utilities to pick from, in addition to 11 possible weapon sets that would all have different attack skills. I'm not going to do the math here, but that is a heck of a lot of possiblities. One can also switch out utility and healing skills on the fly right from the hotbar, no respecing or anything else is necessary. All of that doesn't even touch on the Traits, which offer even more changes one can make to their character. If anything, I've felt more freedom playing GW2 than any other MMO in recent memory, because I'm NOT locked into a specific role I have to min/max to the absolutely optimum build in order to be effective.

I been telling Blizzard for years to do pretty much everything Guild Wars 2 is now doing. Their response was to entirely ignore me like all the rest of their players and simply forum ban us for "trolling" just for having suggested such things. I hope they are happy when all their players finally jumpship to a better game. It was long overdue and it's only due to a **** poor market of 0 real competition that they've reigned king this long to begin with. Their monopoly is officially OVER. Here if your "WoW killer", and for the record that's the first time I've ever said that about an MMO.

I hated the original GW as it totally sucked. With people raving about 2, and the fact that there is no trial, the worst i could be out is 90 bucks. After that, if i hate it as well, ive only lost 90 bucks.

And in GW1 you had no real restrictions for your skills, you could even combine classes.
I am not saying GW2 is a bad game in general, it is just for me. And I have tested a few classes in the beta, I have been in the mist thingy were you have all your skills unlocked to test and I do own the game because my friends talked me into it. So I even played a bit since release but I am just not really motivated to play even with my friends. I dont like it and it feels too limited for my taste.
And I personally simply like the concept of healers who dont do much more than healing although I understand why other people dont see it that way.
Now the OP asked if GW2 is worth it and for me it simply is not. But as I said before that my personal opinion and I do know plenty of people who love it.

Fair enough, I just wanted to make sure you weren't one of those who write things off after trying it for 20 minutes. Obviously, this is not the case. No insult or anything like that was intended.
