Greetings Programs,
I am new to this whole MechWarrior thing though I have played other games in the franchise. I was just wondering if someone could help me out with a question I had. Is there a projected release date for this game and/or beta testing and if so when would that be? Also I'm Seeing these factions everywhere and was wondering how important they are and how I determine which is right for me, I just chose the symbol I did because I liked it but would rather find a faction that I'm suited for and change it to that. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you and have a nice day.
End of line.
Quick Question.

That's two questions!
There is no release date announced yet.
Factions will be important in-game when they add Community Warfare to the game, but that won't be until post-launch. We don't know exactly what factions will do, and until they add Community Warfare, it doesn't do anything except change your picture.

Dates and such just read http://mwomercs.com/support/faq and keep on top of that.
As for a group to join, not really a question anyone can answer for you but yourself that one. I would suggest you just make your way over to http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Main_Page
Have a read through the history of different groups, houses, clans etc and get a feel for what matches your personal vibe and liking. Do not go listening to people telling what their view of best is, just take your time read/educate yourself on the BT universe and its lore then make you mind up.
Good luck

For some Basic Information about the Factions got to the Game Section of the Site and then choose the Factions part. After that you could look up the ones that you are interested in on sarna.net. (the Battletech wiki)
For a beginner, this link could also be interesting, because it has all sorts of historical and technical information about the BT universe.
The Factions will be important for the meta game. You should read the Developers Blog about Community Warfare to find out how exactly.
When the game will be in Open Beta is currently not clear. Right now there is closed beta underway. If you buy one of the founder packs until the 6th September, you will be granetd access, although as far as I know there are now some invites going out to Non-Founders, too.

You can find all this information simply by looking it up with the search bar, and just browsing the informative parts of the site in general. Read the FAQ.
