For example: Is the server going to pipe information about all nearby mechs with full data on critical components and let the client filter whether to show that info to the player (dumb) or is the server going to be constantly checking which mechs can see what information (smart, but server intensive).

Since nobody answered you directly, I will.

1.) Loadout information is not sent to everybody, it's only sent when it's supposed to be sent. Furthermore, it doesn't contain any extra information that could be useful.
2.) Mech positions are sent to everyone regardless of LOS or if the position is being relayed by a friendly. This is of course insecure, and I've actually talked directly to an engineer about it not long ago. He assures me they're addressing it.

Software gets hacked. Networked software gets hacked over the network.

Even if you build completely secure software somehow, if it needs the network it'll get DDOS'd or worse.

Criminal suck. They do stuff that benefits them (money, fun, etc) regardless of its impact on others.

Some ppl I was playing with yesterday mentioned this. It's downright depressing when you can look up "MechWarrior Online Hacks" on a browser and find a dozen sites advertising aimbots and credit hacks, it's even more depressing to get cored from full health a millisecond after you poke your nose out of cover to fire. (Sorry, but NO human being has that kind of reaction speed period.) What's the point of being an honorable player, let alone playing this game when the people you are playing against are cheating their way to curbstomp victory?

Just because someone curbstomps you doesn't mean they were cheating. Nice necro post though.

You gotta keep in mind. Someone people use the hacker word too loosely. For example every time they loose that accuse people of hackers. Some people just get that lucky headshot and that isn't hacking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1=

But ofc 200kmp Atlas is abvious hax and must be punished !

Maybe not, but these cheat sites DO exist, and as I stated before, there are certain in-game behaviors that should come across as a red flag (Being insta-killed from full armor the instant you move out of cover is most likely not based on player skill.)
