Would you pay RLC for an add-on Daughter-Board to expand your on-board Mech Module space?

Assume (speculate) that a Light Chassis is maxed at 3 Modules.
Assume (speculate) that a Medium Chassis is maxed at 4 Modules.
Assume (speculate) that a Heavy Chassis is maxed at 4 Modules.
Assume (speculate) that a Assault Chassis is maxed at 5 Modules.

Then when maxed on installed Modules, one could buy a Daughter-Board that would add 1 or 2 expansion slots.

Cost for a 1 expansion Daughter-Board could be 250,000 C-Bills or $8.00 RLC (totally RNG) while a 2 expansion Daughter-Board might cost Millions of C-bills or $15.00 RLC (totally RNG).

Thoughts?

Not a bad idea. Alot would depend on the amount of base module slots per battlemech vs modules available as to not make in completely unbalanced.

If anything, it should be the other way. The larger your 'mech, the fewer modules you get.

EDIT: Also, I don't like the idea of buying/adding too many more expansion slots... it's better when you have to pick and choose :)

Our plans are to allow you to connect a USB cable from your Mech back to your base computer which acts like 2 extra slots. But we're charging $2.00USD/foot of cable that you use in-game.

I guess that depends on how they cost out PP's per Module. If they go more PP's for each additional Module bought with PP's then having more module slots would be dependent on in-game play time. Nice Carrot really.

And I did note in the OP that these Daughter-Boards would only be available for purchase after you had filled all available module slots in a Chassis.

Phew. I knew taking my Wireless Satellite linked laptop with me into my Mech would save me cash some day. I figure 4 feet of cable should about do it. LOL :)

there should be some prerequisite somewhere in all this where $7250 ANJOU Speaker Cables must be used to get some horrendously overpowered ingame benefit.

That sounds suspiciously like you want to see mechs with hydraulics, over sized feet, and doing windmills while their speakers are shattering the windows with the wub wub wub sounds coming out of them.

Well yeah. Didn't you know that's what GAUSS stands for? Giant Auditorially Upsetting Sonic Surge. Comes standard on this car:

Now, sadly, I picture a Mad Cat Mk. II thumping its way thru an Urban map, assaulting enemies with the sounds of the Wu Tang Clan... >_<

We have absolutely no information on what modules will be in the game, nor on how many slots will be in each chassis ... and you're already coming up with a plan to get more slots for those upgrades we know nothing about?

I have a feeling that 'Mechs are going to have a lot more slots than 3/4/4/5. Did you see how big those trees were? I could easily see 6/7/8/9 as the default numbers. And remember, you might get more module slots according to the BattleMech efficiency chart if that upgrade makes it to the final version.

would you be able to grind towards these extra slots? Because they represent a tactical advantage, potentially...and the game doesn't sell tactical advantage, apparently.

Also I would be concerned about game balance, reading the latest Q&A, they are taking extreme note of fairness and mech balance.

I would think that to compensate for the power of higher ton mechs (generally) It would go maybe something more like

Assault: 1
Heavy: 2
Medium: 2
Light: 3

or

Assault: 2 (1?)
Heavy: 2
Medium: 3
Light: 3(4?)

On the side of mechs having a large number of base modules, I figure

Assault: 3
Heavy: 4
Medium: 5
Light: 7

or (if its higher)

Assault: 4
Heavy: 5
Medium: 7
Light: 9

I suggest you look at Chembots thread http://mwomercs.com/...s-take-spoiler/ it references the possible original source material.

Only if you can take the constant verbal abuse and nagging about how bad your piloting is.

Are these 286 or 386 architectures? I might have a few boards laying around here somewhere...
