Has anyone played the newest edition? Is it worth the money to change over?

Haven't played it but I do have the book. I had some probs figuring out the combat system though. In reguards to armor soaking and bullet penetration.

Wow...just wow. I wish I had one of those. I didn't even know anyone still had and sold copies of that game.

It's worth the money if only to support the franchise! ^_^

But yeah, I personally think it is worth it. I can't really point to specific game mechanics or anything, but I like what they've done.

Loved running that game for my gaming group back in the late 80s. I always hated FASA's (lack of ) organization tho - took forever to find what you were looking for until you had the damn book memorized. :)

Have the 4th edition of it, love the lifepath system for chargen. You actually get a feel for why the character is what he/she is, not just 'here is my pile of stats for the game'. Wish more pen and paper games would use a chargen system like that.

I've the first, second, and third myself. I liked the Second edition best, just personal preference on that part.

Aliens also used something like lifepath in generation... and for a game that you could survive for as little as two minutes ;) if your not very smart.. or lucky, you will take every bit of role building you can get, "Ill never get back to little Jenny now! Thanks to the Sargents point blank shot at the beasts head.. we're dissolving on the floor together in what will soon be a single puddle working its way towards the ships gravity plain.". :)

Anyone notice that first edition the throttle is in the right hand? Second edition looks almost like an early helicopter yoke! I dont remember what Ive got boxed up, if I can dig down to it... Ill post back. But should be a core book and maybe an expansion or two.
