Now I know it's a spin off series but I played Mech Assault on the Xbox religiously back in the day, and loved both games. Now in the second game one of my favorite things was probably the battle armor you could get into, where you could use to hack into an enemy mech and force them to eject, or just using it for hit and run tactics to confuse the enemy. I don't know how many people here played those 2 games, but what's every ones idea about having battle armors in the game????

Also please keep this civil, I don't want this turning into a forum where it looks like a cluster of 4 year olds screaming at each other.

Not at all. Mechassault's so far from the actual Battletech game that it makes me want to headbutt the screen when someone tries to add it to anything else.

Besides, again- it's gonna be a while before we hit the point where anything save Elemental armor shows up, and that's with the Clans. As NPC opponents? Sure. As some lame way to wreck a player's Mech? Absolutely not.

I like it more from the Mechwarrior Living Legends perspective than MechAssault, but I for one LOVE elementals. One of the things that drew me to Clan Ghost Bear. :)

Being able to lead an unit of AI controlled battle armor might be interesting. Ambush gameplay and all that.

I would like to see it as a future addition to the game as things progress. It all depends on how much of the war around the mechs they want to bring in or if they want to keep it focused on the mechs.

I'm glad it won't be included. I like 35-100 ton mechs, not midgets in battle armor. Get real.

Given the time period (~3050) there are likely only one type of Battlearmor to be encountered. I'm not sure how it would work out for them. If they are anything like the BT Battlearmor of the early 3050's, the only safe thing for them to do is either ambush at close range in "large" squads (like in a city), or try to implement a "Swarm" attack, where the battlearmor trys to climb up on the Mech and start ripping into it with arm-lasers and battleclaw. It would be a delicate balancing act for the Devs, to make them feasable for individual players.

The whole hacking thing was 2 ways, when an enemy battle armor attaches to your mech you have to counter hack against him and then if you win the battle armor gets knocked off of you and stunned, and if he wins you get auto-ejected from the cockpit. It was in no way a "oh I got on your mech I instantly get it" type of thing

Battle Armors yes, AFTER the Clan Invasion. The game is supposed to start off prior to 3050 so No BA before that point.

And as for ANY reference to Mech[In]sult: 2 and "Hacking". GTFO, and ****. That is NOT part of Battletech.

Please, no mech hacking either. That sounds so gimmicky. The MA games were all terrible, too.

im a little wary of that. an elemental may be interesting game play. but would be completely off. if i remember correctly from my time in the library in mw2, elemental soldiers where genetically bred FOR elementals. there role was as an elemental pilot and thats it. physically twice the size of a normal mech pilot they wouldn't be able to fit into a regular mech. even considering the mech assault take on them. given the fact that they are keeping to an established timeline. i think we just have to look at what tech was even available. before we start asking for stuff.

personaly im glad they are keeping to the more traditional mechwarrior and battltech universe. one things for sure, im goign to be waiting for this thing. just like ive been waiting since the original announcement video. i just hope it looks that good still

I was wondering when this would get uncivil and people would start bashing MechAssault :)

I hope that it is placed in the game. If not at launch, then at some date at least. I really was hoping to get to experience playing as a BA in this game.

I agree with Highlander , AFTER the Clan invades. Future releases. It would add a nice new wrinkle to combat. I enjoy them in MWLL, and they are Canon to the Battletech Universe after all.

Unless they change the canon, there aren't going to be any battlearmor in MWO.
If it was after the Clan Invasion, I'd love to have BA in MWO.

If the Commando gets in-game then at least us Lyrans will have a light battlearmor. ;D

Well it has to be after the clans invade... the Inner Sphere had maybe a few power exoskeletons from the Star League days... but otherwise

Id like to see a bit of progression honestly. To earn the C-bills to pay for even a lightweight mech if your not in a clan or if your initiating, maybe you should be limited to battlearmor. Seeing all types of battlefield weaponry employed would be awesome. I think relying on mech power alone would be foolish if you can bring in something more to the fight. Battle armor can even be outfitted to provide mobile artillary support.

It'd be more reasonable further down the timeline. There is no real Inner Sphere battle armor until after enough Clan BA got salvaged to start producing things like the Inner Sphere Standard and Grey Death suits...and that's much later down the road.
