Memory choice seems odd to me. Only because there are brands like Corsair or G.skill with 100s of reviews for the same price and that memory has 0 reviews.

I love that heatsink.

How is AMD overclockingwise these days?

Of course, this gives Vulpes the chance to be the very first reviewer! But I have a feeling, based on his previous posts, Vulpes wholeheartedly supports AMD and I'm sure using AMD RAM is just another way of him showing support.

I use G.Skill myself in this rig (8GB DDR3 1600) and it works wonders but I have no doubt the AMD will work just fine as well.

Well, that AMD RAM is actually a high-bin set of Patriot RAM which is rebadged and sent through an additional round of quality control testing by AMD to ensure stability.

Well there you go then. And Patriot is definitely no slouch in the memory department!

I kinda miss amd. Recently went from an AMD 64 3200 single core to an i7 2700k. It rocks my world but I feel like i've sold out to the man.

I have fond memories of my AMD Thunderbird. Using pencil lead to cross the jumpers to unlock it. Good times. :)

If you don't care about the PSU being modular, I'd get this instead

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817182068

Taking shipping into account, it's only $5 more, if you didn't do the mail-in rebate on the XFX unit; I don't know if you bother with MIRs. If you did the rebate the XFX unit might be a better dealt.

Here's a review of the 750W version http://www.jonnyguru...Story5&reid=266

Try these changes, tell me what you think.

monitor- HANNspree HF255DPB Black 24.6" 2ms Widescreen http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824262025
GPU- XFX HD-695X-ZNFC Radeon HD 6950 1GB http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814150523
motherboard- ASRock 990FX Extreme4 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813157266
RAM- Team Xtreem Dark Series 8GB DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820313080

Total price without shipping $1,225.86 with my proposed changes. It's about $70 more, but it includes a 24.6" LCD, and a 6950. The motherboard is like 1 step down from the Fatality, which unless the difference between to two board is something you'll actually use, won't be noticed. I also saved alittle on the RAM, and as you've said acouple times, RAM is RAM. You won't be able to tell the difference when actually using the computer.

Eh, I actually will use some of the features on the Fatal1ty board, which is why I chose it (and for the color scheme a bit too). The AMD RAM I chose was for the second round of quality control, the low profile heatsinks, and the AMD badging. As I am going to upgrade the GPU next year anyhow, I figured I'd get the 6870- although the GPU will be one of the last things I get, so by April prices may go down on the 6900 series with the 7800 and 7700 series coming out- I may even get one of those depending on price. With the monitor, I figured I'd set within my price range as close as I could; otherwise I'd likely get this; http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824236153
