My understanding was that, especially given the imminent release of MWO, there wouldn't be a Beta...

We're probably still months away from that, guys. We don't even have any screenshots or videos of the Alpha builds yet.

Edit: And Zimm ... we don't have an official release date either. I've seen a projected date that listed "Summer 2012" but it can still be considered summer in September, so that doesn't really help. Not to mention that games nowadays rarely make their first release date.

According to this, there will be a beta test, and according to what's said in there, the beta is now about 45-50 days away.

Just remember ... that link doesn't say 60 says for the Beta. It says 60 days for the announcement about Beta. We could get to that day (roughly March 23rd) and they announce that the public Beta will start in another 30 or 60 days.
