Well, I endorse this message... In fact, I am re-designing my BattleMech 9 thread in honor of this.

Thanks Gents! These Ortho views were not easy to do. They take a looooooong time, especially if you have to learn the software.

That ortho is delicious, someone needs to model and animate that...

Wow. Steller work on those drawings. I hope some one can make a low poly 3D model that can be turned into a paper model.

To Garth Erlam, Community Manager and Urbie Sponsor: don't forget to check at the bottom of the preceding thread page for the latest Urbie goodie and proposal to Paul...

What software did you use? They look great.

And I really hope they take this design, it is beastly.
And to the developers, wouldn't it be nice to take the work of a great fan like Ironhawk and give him the thing he (and 30+ other people) dreams about?

Thanks. This was in answer to a request actually. At this point, I am just happy to have completed this exercise up to the orthographic view. It feels now from this end of the keyboard anyway that the new fan Urbie design is more viable with the ortho done. It was a good practice and the Urbie is one of the tough models to try and make something cool (I hope) out of, as it is a typically disdained or at least controversial 'Mech in the BT universe. I liked the challenge and like underdogs in general so that's why the challenge from Garth sounded cool. No real expectation but figured Garth needed a final salvo aimed at Paul Inouye, hehe.

For ortho work, the software needs to be vector based. I first tried to get a RL designer to do it using Autocad but I we figured it took too long and there were still item details I needed to refine myself in the design, especially on the parts we don't see on the concept art pic. So I gave a shot on it using Adobe Illustrator and discovered many functions differ from Photoshop... So the adaptation took a while. Glad you like the results.

So what other underdog should I tackle now? ;-)

Don't really believe the game needs a Urbie nor would it be that effective in game but I do applaud the amazing work of Iron Hawk, it would be easy to believe that the Urbie was already in the game.

God, the Imp is Fugly. It's an oversized Urbie with a big stupid face.
