Now here is a tricky topic...how does salvage work?

With salvage you normally grab the downed and semi-destroyed mechs and their parts. If these belong to another warrior who will just respawn can you even have salvage? If you do, then how can you have it without inflating the market to the nth degree? I would love to hear some conversation on salvage, as a clanner I loathe to think we are leaving perfectly salvageable parts on the battlefield.

I would think that this is going to be an Open world MMO (not a button masher). I would think that the salvage mechanic will be handled by you having a support team to pick up salvage from your kills. I would also think that if you kill a mech, that mech no longer exists, thus preventing a "downed" player from getting straight back into the action.

In terms of preventing market inflation, you are assuming that Mechs would be in-expensively given to players, rather than brought on a open market.

If Mechs were to be brought at prices similar to those given in Mechwarrior 4 Mercs, and salvage sold at similar prices (with any mech destroyed, permanently removed from a player), any salvage would be consistently highly valued, due to the amount of damage being taken in the world at any one time.

This would be a fairly simple/naive view of the economic system to be created, but one which I believe would work.
