Out of these 4 'mechs, I can honestly say only the Vindicator and Wyvern represent a fairly balanced approach to combat, and of those, the Wyvern is generally a better bet - the Vindicator is pretty tough for its size, and it has excellent heat management, but overall the approach is a little too conservative, and it lacks punch - the PPC is really the only significan weapon, and it has a slow cycle time and a minimum range requirement. The LRM/5 is a peashooter, and just a single MLas and SLas don't offer much close-range punch; add to that the Vindicator just isn't fast enough to stay at long range like a Griffin can, and it's kind of a sub-optimal design. By contrast, the Wyvern is armored as well as a Centurion (which is not required to be only deployed in cities, mountains, and dense forests) but with some armor shifted from arms to legs (good call for using jump jets), and it has an effective weapons spread at any range - much like the Centurion, it gains punch as it closes in, and it has jump jets, the only thing I'd really consider is that it could maybe use a couple more heat sinks, but the weapon layout isn't so heat-intensive as to make that a crippling problem.
The Blackjack is just a horrible mishmash of close-range laser boat (albeit one without adequate heat sinks to stand on the trigger) and a long-range anti-infantry platform (why????). It would almost make sense as an anti-aircraft vehicle with strong close-range defensive capabilities, but it would be served much better by trading a little armor for some additional ammunition in that role. All in all, it's just a horrible load-out.
Then the Hatchetman, a strictly urban combat design with crap armor that's sole purpose seems to be charging in to hit things with an axe. Too bad it's slow! Only saving grace is at least it has an adequate supply of AC/10 ammo, but with that all stored in the CT with the engine, and only 14/4 armor on the CT, it's just begging for a Hunchie to light it up like a firecracker. Near as I can tell, it's mostly designed to be obnoxious, and hopefully get off a lucky kill against a better unit with weak melee capabilities using either the hatchet or a DFA, before being summarily one-shot through it's flimsy rear armor. Or just having its legs fall off, since 11 points is pretty weak for trying to DFA...
Overall, though, I'm interested to see a total of four designs with a 64.8km/h top speed and full jump jets selected from the 45ton category. It would have been nice to see a Phoenix Hawk here, at least for some variety...
