The EPIC video card thread

In my opinion this is what i consider an epic video card. I've been saving up for a good video card and i will be purchasing this from newegg tomorrow as soon as i get off of work.
I'm not asking for an opinion if you think this is a bad idea or not but if for some reason you think i'm getting ripped off and know of a better GPU in which i can max out all MWO graphics settings on DX11 while possibly having up to three displays then feel free to voice your opinion. I don't want to turn down the opportunity to learn something new. However this is not what this thread is about.
I'm just curious to see what happens if i were start a thread where you post what you think is the most epic video card out there. The one i'm purchasing tomorrow is my personal favorite. Please post a link to your favorite video card or one you think is better and tell me why.

For a little more money you can get an NVIDIA 670 and it's much better then that card. This game opens with an NVIDIA ad so.... I would suggest an MSI twin frozr 670.

Ok, here's the deal. It all depends upon what kind of processor you're backing your video card with. I had a 7970 in my system, and I was pushing it with a Core 2 Duo and the performance was terrible. I moved to a Triple core AMD Phenom I had laying around and it was a bit better. I got impatient and bought an underspec (game wants you to have 3.3ghz) 2.7 Ghz six core processor and I went from "Zero to hero".
Now the seven series graphic cards from AMD are good and all, they bench well but really start geting scaling and performance marks once you stress them with a serious overclock. Otherwise they are kinda "meh" (and I am an AMD fanboy). My 7970 has to be pushed by a good processor and then overclocked like madman to get really fluid results.
NVIDIA has a solid arcitecture in the six hundred series, it's more efficient, it is supported by more games and the drivers tend to be better. Not to mention they have more frequent driver updates. Take the same system above, cram it into a micro atx home theater case and :
530 Watt Raidmax modular Power Supply $50 or so
AMD Six core 2.7 Ghz 130 bucks on Tiger direct
Matx 880 Series MD supporting 95+ Watt chips
8 GB DDR 1333
Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Ti ZT-60802-10P (Tiger direct 299.99) It's like 7.5 " long
Flawless, Maximum Graphical game settings on a 1080P 61" Samsung in my front room
The 7950 is faster than the GTX660, but Nvidia has a knack for games seeming to run more fluid at lower frame rates produced. Not to mention their adaptive V-Sync on the newer cards. Especially is you run on monitors with 60Hz refresh, its beautiful.
You want epic, get what I put in my den: GTX680 but the 660 is more than enough.
Always, ALWAYS, make certain you have a processor that can feed your video card. An Intel i5 will do the trick if you like their processors better.
This game is multithreaded FRIENDLY, so running on less cores = worse experience
Hope that helped
BTW, AMD underdog fanboy or not... that video card, you linked to, costs WAY too much for a 7950. I don't give a rats *** if it's an ASUS 3x wide card or not. You would have to "light it on fire" , literally to make it hit its full potential.
Here's the one in my front room pc (the one I use now):

I just noticed the mention of 3 Displays... Shoot for 670 or 680 or get 2 660Ti's and SLI them. Though a 670/680 + something like a Core i7 / AMD Phenom II (no Bulldozer for this, its a **** for feeding new graphic cards) overclocked to 4.0 Ghz should do the trick at an extreme widescreen resolution.

That is true, as far as I know Paul Inouye had suggested someone to wait until launch so that the advanced graphics options are ready, and people know where to put their money. You know, maybe in three or four months, Nvidia and AMD are going to launch their new graphics cards series, so it may be worth to wait. If you can hold it with an average graphics card, I would suggest you to do it, but if you are in an urge well, then go for it. Personally, I am waiting for the game launch to see which graphics is worth getting to run the game in Dx11, and I'm sitting tight with my old graphics card for now.

I've got the Radeon HD 7750 the one bellow it and I'm currently running Transformers Fall of Cybertron on max graphic settings. Yes I know it's not a crytek engine game.

If I were to upgrade today and money were no object? A 670 or 680. Nvidia's been kind to me these last few years, aside from a few kinks. Plus, their driver support is, imo, better than AMD (I still think of them as ATI). I'd go with EVGA or MSI. Anything with a good warranty, really.

Well i just purchased that video card yesterday along with the legendary founders pack...now i'm broke till payday next week, lol. This is the first component to an MWO pc i'm building that i "should have" started building may i think but every time i had a chunk of cash to blow on this PC building project something else went wrong with my truck. By the time i finally got this GPU, i now have new tires, new carberator, new starter, new center drag-link(for the front axle, have power steering), got a front-end alignment, new paint job(took six cans of spray paint to it...actually looks good, lol). It's almost a new truck now, lol. I don't think there's anything left to break down on it so i think i've won the war with my truck. Hopefully nothing else can go wrong so i can finish building my PC...sometimes i hate life...but i can't live without it. It's a gamer's paradox, lol.

This is a minor pet peeve, but you are not playing games in "1080p" unless you are using your TV as a monitor. 1080p IS NOT a PC resolution. First of all, the p is irellevant to a PC video signal.

That aside, the GTX 570 is a fantastic card.

I'm in the exact same situation. Well, not exactly, I already have a monster PC. But I'm having money troubles because I bought a "project" car. The thing runs, but that's about it LOL. Had to get tires, brakes, oil leak fixed, like 5 different fluid flushes, the window fixed, the convertible top fixed.... yeah. It was cheap, so I wasn't expecting much. Just needed a vehicle to get to work.
