Hello, people. Pleased to meet you all. I am Whackjob.

Been busy with various nuttery lately, so I wasn't even aware that Mechwarrior Online was in development. Forgive me.

First, a little bit about myself in introduction. I've been a Mechwarrior player for quite some time. I've owned about every single Mechwarrior PC game that has come out. I played Mechwarrior 4 quite frequently online and did quite well for myself. I like to think I invented the "Third kind" in the capture-the-flag games. You of course had the runners, and the defenders, while I was a self-styled "Chaser". When the 100 tunner semi-mobile turret platforms missed, I made it my job to get the flag back. I did well enough to get ranked in the top 10 for a 3 month period in CTF several times.

I tend to look down on heavier 'mechs, missile boaters and pop-tart plinkers. Not that they aren't valid strategies, mind you, but it just seems to me that it's taking the easy way out. Now, me? Give me a light or medium mech, strip all the armor off of it, give me the fastest engine I can get, and I'll throw a weapon or two on and take down those fat hundred tonner turrets. Sure, you could kill me in a single alpha strike, but you tend to not be used to dealing with a zippy little mech that's decent at guessing when you're going to fire and jinks appropriately. And I'm fast enough to knock on your back plates when I want, burrowing in to get at that meaty fusion core that's just so darned tasty. In example, I used to use a shadowcat with minimal possible armor, fastest engine, and two thunderbolt missile systems (unguided). As long as I stayed on my game and didn't botch the dodge, I'd get my kill.

Anyways, from a quick perusal of the boards, I see or suspect that testing is going on, and wanted to throw my hat into that ring. I'm sure you've got a preponderance of heavy and assault mech pilots doing their thing. I figure it couldn't hurt getting an LSM pilot in there to confuse things. More data is more data, right?

Well, to summarize, I'm pleased to meet you all, thank you to the devs for finally browbeating whomever you needed to in order to get this title underway, and I can't freaking wait to meet you folks out on the field. You and your meaty little fusion cores. I'll bring tobasco.

Heh. I can't wait to play. I'm already pondering what I can put on a flea. LSM party time has waited far too many years.
