for those of you that dont know and for those of you who remember a game company called ritual entertainment created an fps with an amazing story behind it, though due to some aweful bugs (thanks activision) and the release of half life shortly afterward overshadowing its success it was forgotten quickly.

anyways they came out with a new project in 2006 called sin Episodes with its first episode called emergence but it was plagued with poor marketing and a lack of sales and a casual games company called mumbojumbo games ended up buying up ritual and the rights to sin effectively killing off any hope of there ever being a conclusion to it (mumbojumbo is a company that creates crappy puzzle games for the casual pc gamers and shows no interest in fps)

so anyways some fans on the steam forums (yes i know steam and valve are evil and most of you know how much i hate valve) ive not kept that secret) they have started a petition to mumbo jumbo to either do something with the title or sell it to someone that will so to anyone this post has reached please google the game if you dont know what it is and if you like it PLEASE sign this and start more like it to revive this beautiful game title

I think MWO gamers aren't (thank heaven) the classical FTP shooter gamer kiddys... so wrong forum ... wrong group of players and very very wrong tone of the PM.

I appologize for the rude tone.

Still think an other environment would serve you more.

..,

why are you attacking me like that? game wasnt a ftp shooter and it wasnt some crappy cod game either it was a story driven fps game that pushed the limits of game engines of its time and both games ended on cliffhangars that made you really want to see what happens next

edit: this is the off topic section of the forums no? is this not where to post things like this? it is after all a large forum with many types of gamers and probably the best place to get this topic noticed by many

I don't know what to tell you. I greatly disliked both of those Sin games and would be unlikely to give anything else from that franchise another try. And this is coming from someone who even likes some FPS games that most would consider to be pretty bad (like Fire Warrior, for example)

i didnt play the games. but reading the wiki i can see why it failed. that has to be one of the worst business models ive ever seen. 3hr eps X 9 @ 19.99 each? the character descriptions and their names were pretty awful too. i dont think their lore needs a revival. maybe you should try and get the gameplay into a different series.

that was the original idea it got scrapped and they decided to go with a 3 part series when emergence was made which btw takes longer than 3 hours lol and you guys probably have played half life... thats no different each of their episodes only has like 4 hours of gameplay in it and they charge you like 30 bucks per episode when they were new

edit: please keep things civil im tired of my threads getting locked because people keep deciding to turn it into a hostile debate and forget the purpose of why i made the thread

response from mumbojumbo to questions about sin

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

It is my understanding that our company did purchase this site.
However, we only supply downloadable games. It appears this SIN game has been
put on a hold and I am unsure when or if it will resume in the future.
I'll share it with our management team so they are aware of your comments.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for contacting Oberon Media. Sincerely, Mallory Game Center Support Team

Sin in my opinion is awful series in both animu and game incarnations. The only thing most people remembered were full screen boobs at first cutscene. There is plenty of really good games that should be reincarnated instead of this one.

care to elaborate? cause the way you stated it makes you sound like youre some kid who knows nothing but counterstrike and cod and thinks of those as good games and justp ulled your opinions quoted directly from the wiki, yea the anime was crappy but not for the reason you stated, it was ****** because it took place 40 years after the games did but decided to keep all the characters, with the exception of killing off one of the main characters 5 minutes into the show (jc) and completely warped the storyline

ah ze internets.. the only place where not liking something automatically makes you CoDfag.
first i'm judging animu and game separately its just by pure coincidence they fallen into same category. second - I never judge games which i didn't finish myself.

animu - not my thing. drawing style, plot development and plot itself, characters etc nothing of my liking so i decided that its just not fer me.

game on the other hand was something i actually wanted to play. but.. shallow plot, plane level design, not so good graphics, uninteresting characters, stupid AI, weapons asking why i even need them like this and on top of this tons of bugs, glitches and design flaws - that is not to mention weird business model and whole bunch of problems with legally obtaining copy in my country. the only good thing in my opinion was battle mechanics - bringing back use of surroundings was a good idea but just like everything else this feature was done halfassed. and yes most of the people remember only boobs on first cutscene - too bad the sad reality is that game is so "good" that for most it ether don't have anything better than boobs, or they just dropped it after first 5 minutes of play and remembering it in a fashion "oh do you remember there was that game, forgot its title, you know that one with fullscreen boobs, ah yes Sin". and 100sig goal petition with only like 40+ sig so far after "some fans on the steam forums" started it is only proving my point. want to see difference? check black mesa approval rating. check HW3 petitions or make another Oni petitions.
if some studio will be able to make good game out of sin - good for them. but this is one of the titles i will not buy before seeing solid proof of its goodness. for example - half life, homeworld and bunch of other things ill buy without questions.

and seriously - "half life overshadowed"? game was done for even before half life release, **** with activision it was probably done for the second they announced it.

was still a good game and it wasnt for the **** the story was good and the game mechanics were original unlike most games of the era, the ai was dumb in the first one but look at the games age, 1998 didnt leave alot of room for smart enemies, and the updated copy adjusted difficulty depending on how well you played an interesting feature that was only used by this game and max payne

sorry but this is my personal opinion (not boobs - plot etc) based on 2 walk trough (release and updated) ai was still dumb, bugs were still there etc but if you think that game is good and deserve a second chance than that is your opinion and i don't question it. so good luck with forcing resurrect, as for me - i prefer to stick to "wont pay or maybe even care until solid proof" policy.
