Since zombies can do nothing that requires a high brain function (walking and tearing at your flesh would be about its limit of brain function) there is little need to worry about zombies going full force in Urbans, unless they are some kind of T-virus junkies... in which case I would not even bother with a 'mech but be sure I got my sweet little booty off-planet in one of the (hopefully!) first dropships available!

I'd stay in my Urbie. All my stuff is in there. I'd park up on a rooftop somewhere and watch the show.

I like the Grashopper. It´s jumpcapable and has hands and of course its faster than any zUrbie, but i would drop the LRMs for a Beagle Probe and an ECM with stealth armor. The Idea with the second cockpit is a good one, too. Never standing still, always out of reach.
About the LAM: why not just leave the atmosphere and wait in orbit? Then there is no need for fuel.

Can mechs keep a pilot alive indefinatly without a breathable atmoshphere?

The only thing worse than a ZombUrbie, is a flaming ZombUrbie.
Since a giant effing chainsaw is out of the question, you have to go with another popular anti-zombie weapon - the Shotgun. Maybe the Centurion CN9-AH? What about your ammo. Too late, you're dead.
I'll take the Awesome. It runs twice as fast as the Urb's and any single PPC blast should be able to crack those zombie eggs. With a single solid blast every few seconds and the ability to outrun them, it's the thing that will turn an apocalypse back into just a tragedy.

The thing I thought about with the Awesome or any other PPC Mech is, what would a horde of zUrbies with AC/10s do to me when I can only take out one or two per firing cycle? 4 or 5 I can see being able to whittle them down, 40 or 50? Rut Roh Raggy.

Id take an assault mech hastily refitted to be armed entirely with pulse lasers.

That is when you just stagger your PPC shots, which generates a lot of heat mind you, but it works

Who says you would need to sit in your 'mech in orbit over the planet? Just need to sit up there parked in a warship and then reduce everything to a smouldering wreckage with your big guns like the Smoke Jaguars did with Edo.
It does not matter how good your 'mech is, you are not getting out of orbital bombardment without at least a few good licks.

I would go with a Summoner D for the mobility and long range stopping power.
LAM's do have a finite supply of fuel and it is usually enough for small operations (Would probably need extra Fuel pods).
Out of curiosity do the Urbies get variant configurations? I would not want to come across a pack of UM-R60L all packing AC-20's.

I'll take a Rifleman IIC 5 for this job. Jump-jet and snipe, stay out of the way of those scrap eating urbies...
