I WANT TO SEE ELEMENTALS!!!!!! You know what would be really cool is if they added elementals to the whole system, add them as npc, you could use them to set up a trap, or use them to scout over a hill it would be a cool little add on i think, but of course if i recall correctly was not till the clans invaded that elementals became known.........

It would be nice to have them as an option, would be perfect for surveillance.

Not only that but would bring in more teamwork to, an atlais would have a hard time taking down a bunch of elemeantals swarming it, but its lance mate or a team mate could come along and help to dispath them...

This would be pretty neat and add a sense of scale from a shorter perspective.

A Mad Cat IV supported by a couple Mad Dogs(Vultures), and 5-8 Elementals would be a formidable force

... Mad Cat IV? What time line are you looking at heh. Timber Wolf with a couple Mad Dogs and 10 Elementals or two points give you a nice Star.

Unless Elementals are able to grapple mechs they would be dead meat. One laser or balistic shot and your dead.

Also, Elementals make terrible scouts, they are really slow (60 kphish?). Dont get me wrong, they are cool, and great in a combined arms game (with infantry and vehicles), but in a mech only game.....meh.

I hate to agree though.

As you can guess I am very much a Elemental fan. But unless Elementals can grab on the mech, and rip off armor to open a hole in which to shoot their lasers and machine guns in to the internals... they would do little in the game. MWLL they are only damn effective because they have been given a man pack PPC, which Elementals in lore do not have, and a personal heavy laser, which does not exist at the time either... so Elementals running around are pointless.

You'd be surprised Sprout, you get 5-10 of them I dont care what you are operating you'd have a pretty big problem with those little guys all over you. For example, a Gorilla vs an Army Ant Colony, same concept

Ok some of you got the right idea, i am not talking about we as a player being an elemental, but as an add on for your mech. Make it a command modual that you can add on and upgrade, and for each elemental you can have a penelty for added weight, and for a balance you can only control them up to a certain command range per level on the modual. You can have two setting for the elemental as well, you can have them as active where they will fight for you and follow you around and in this mode they have active scanners that can feed info to the commanding mech only like from around a corner or somthing. Then as a second mode they can have the shutdown/ passive mode as is you can deploy them and tell them to go somewhere where then you can put them to passive and they will hunker down and shut down pretty much. The scanners will still work but only like up to a few meters and it will also be harder to detect them aka an ambush.

Am I the only mech/mechwarrior fan on earth that hates the living hell out of Elementals/equivilents?

It totally defeats the whole purpose of GIANT MECH ROBOT! Having stupid little elementals running around that are hard as hell to hit with your lumbering beast, it's just a frustrating geme mechanic. They were crap in mech assault, they're crap in MWLL and I really hope they aren't in MWO.

My two cents.

Nicole I really like your idea, you may be onto something lol. And Bishop if shooting them is too hard for you, try doing the natural thing...stepping on them

I would make the elementals a command skill- possibly replace one of the inner sphere artillery strikes with an elemental strike for clan players, as artillery strikes dont really seem to fit the clan style to me....

edit: Having elementals strikes in the game would actually make machine guns a useful weapon on mechs for once- so you can hose the elementals off a friendly mech without damaging it, just like WW2 tanks used to do to clear attacking infantry from each other.

Longsword thats a good point. I think the Elementals would be good in an infiltration role as well, small, hard to see, and difficult to hit

You've obviously watched too much giant robo anime to appreciate what MW games are. These games are developed out of a fairly detailed mileu that includes many thing, like tanks, aerospace, elementals and no aliens or demons. Frankly, combined arms is where it is at. anything else is just a japanese monster movie or giant robo (Mazinger Z ftw!)

BTW, they were crap in mech assault because the game itself was/is crap. In MWLL, they are mucho fun to play, even if they are overpowered for a single element (with the firepower of a whole star of them)

Its called strategy. Having elemental scout a area, harass your "GIANT MECH ROBOT"
It's something i always enjoyed doing. And hope to continue doing.

Elementals are crucial to the already developed storyline and if they were excluded it would make the game incredibly unrealistic.
