1. Joystick controls because I like to think of myself as a Mech Pilot and pilots use joysticks!
2. I loved the idea of Mechs going Nuke when they popped...bigger the mech...bigger the boom
3. Destructable building as I am piloting a weapon of war and destruction...buildings should not be an issue to a Gauss Cannon
4. Day/Night missions, city, mountain, forest, and open landscape, moons and planets all the good terrains
5. Lance/House emblems on Mechs
6. Personal drop ships...make them expensive
I am sure there is much more stuff out there that people would like to see but these are my top picks
Please please please have this in the game

1. Ok, I'll go for that.
2. The "Stackpole Rule" (after the author that invented it)? Sacrilige! Heathen!
3. Oh, hell, yeah - just loove picking up a girder and clubbing the enemy in the boardgame.
4. Oh, HELL, YEAH.
5. Mmmh. That could be kinda tough.
6. No... The focus is on MECH combat, not Aerotech. Maybe a short movie as the mission loads.

mechs in the board game very very rarely explode. given the desire of the devs to stick close to the board game i doubt we'll see many exploding mechs. And as someone who desperately wants a good salvages system I have no desire to blow up my spoils.

/Agree to everything the first guy said. Also i have the sweetest f***ing joystick set you could imagine... and you know there is just something about playing that way that makes it so different and so more immersible. flipping switches pulling levers and tilting a joystick.. think about it! if you had to choose what would it be personally? W/A/S/D keys? i think it would be important to implement the W/A/S/D keys for people without a joystick setup, but it should encourage people to buy a set and commit even more to the game.if you go on any Lock On fourm they have pictures of their joystick control set ups and let me tell you something.... they look complicated as all hell but atleast that person has that option.. know what i mean?
If the mech whose engine is going nuclear doesn't damage surrounding mechs and make one hell of a gorgeous explosion.. i'ma be sad =(.
yeah if buildings don't fall or you have those "indestructible lamp posts" this can have an effect on the player which pulls his interest out of the game a bit.
day/night have it, also have something happen during the night that doesn't happen during the day or even create weather related aliments that hinder a players over all speed or range of vision, reduces missile accuracy(something that spices things up in a fight). =D just trying to help
let us put something that when alone identifies us to others with a personal logo Ex. "red baron painting his plane red/ **** symbol" (note: do no put a **** symbol in the game) but you understand what im saying right? something that says THIS IS MY MECH. and for people in a group something that says " we are a team and a force to be reckoned with.
i dont know enough about the game you guys are making at the moment. but a personal drop ship to get us from point a to point b or to get us to our friends or ally's who need assistance within a few miles of them would be nice. <3 travel should be something interesting and that takes time like sailing across the ocean would be to a sailer you know?
dont look at world of warcraft please i dont want to see other mechs standing around with a question mark on their head(or anything like that). i shouldn't be waitting on npc's hand and foot for silly rewards(I'm not a dog). look at eve online for an example of a dynamic player based mmo.
Do you recall those three repair trucks in mech warrior 3 that would back up next to you and then create a box around you by lifting up the stuff they were carrying to fix you? anyways that sounds like something neat to put into the game for long battles on different worlds far from any help and resupply... also paying for a resupply from a city on planet to have a aircraft air drop you some supplies or even evacuating your injured who have not gone nuclear. (make it expensive! a last resort )
a siege mode or opportunity would be really cool if you could find a way to do that. i mean... just imagine! giant mechs of all kinds charging a hill towards a big fortress lazers and cannon fire flying back and forth. elemental troops flying around shooting and fighting one another on the ground.. come on you know it sounds cool. PvP siege? epic =D even PvE would be cool beans.
make npc communication to the player voiced while you click commands of text for replies. I've been playing swtor beta and honestly i have a hard time playing any other mmo with boring walls of text after being so pampered in that game lol. quite a few voice actors to spice things up would be a big benefit to the game over all. everyone said they loved the age of connan mmo for the first 20 levels, and nothing past that... but if you think about it that was the only part of the mmo that had voiced npc's... just a thought.
As for weapons make a rock paper scissors effect. depending on the mech and the situation and the load out. the battle could go many different ways. otherwise i leave that up to you =D
make that cockpit light up and be extremely different for each individual mech. Also try your best to put in as many different kinds of mech as you can. you never know how many people love that mech you decided not to put in.
thank you for taking the time to read this i hope the game turns out awesome!

Although true about boardgame, if you haven't seen the Video released by Piranha in 2009 (before the legal issues) the Mech does go critical and appears to be a small Nuclear event. Of course it shouldn't destroy nearby mechs but the resultant EMP which is present in all Nuke explosions should atleast affect nearby Mech systems for a short period. Longer missle lock, HUD issues etc...
Most people's experience in the past is going to be from the Mechwarrior series of video games including the XBox line so not implementing atleast a few of the great ideas from those other versions wouldn't feel complete.

I read the FAQ section and noted that you are looking into 3rd person play.
PLEASE, PLEASE impliment this.. I am one of those people who can't play 1st person player
because I get virtual reality motion sickness.
I haven't had any problems playing games like War Craft, Rift, AION, War Hammer, World of Tanks,
but I CAN'T PLAY ANY of the the 1st person...believe me I've tried.
