***** REVISE OR PRE READ FOR HAVOC****** All my typing is based off of MW3 I saw MW4 for like a week befor I lost interest because I didnt have a computer to run the game. MW3 made the use of limbs obsolete because you could fit everything on your body if you made your mech, MW4 abolished this with the slots I was appauled by that but i didnt quite understand that after playing MW3 so much more compared to MW4. So I just want to see a compromise as in have a weight limit and not a slot size limit for weapons, ammo, heat sinks and such. Like say the Mad Cat, its arms have a weight limit of 5 tons (pulling out of the air), well an ER Large has a weight of 4 tons so you have 1 ton of space to put ammo or a heat sink. But the left torso has a 15 ton limit, you get what i mean???? ******** END REVISE******** i am also extreamly blurry eyed well typing this

Hahaha you tired of me yet???? So you know the concept of MW3 where it didnt matter where you put wepons or ammo so you could have all your wepons and ammo in the legs and torso so even if you lost your arms you were screwed???? And then in MW4 they completly changed it so you could only put what fit in slots along with ammo???? Well all I hear is slot this and slot that, well STOP IT!!!!! Screw slots I hated that concept, somthing that would be more interested in is do a weight limit per section of mech, so then if I want to put a ppc on a jenner I can. There are my 2 cents....
P.S. nudge nudge wink wink elementals, the future of tide changers :)

Well, in a way the MW4 system matched up to the table-top rules fairly well. Let me explain... no, it would take too long. Let me sum up.

Each location on a 'mech in TT has a certain number of 'critical hit locations', or slots. Equipment placed on the 'mech has to occupy these slots so that critical damage can be fairly allocated. Legs and head have 6 slots each; all other locations (arms, left, right and center torso) have 12. Weapons take up varying numbers of slots, usually correlated with their weight (but not always); ammo takes up one slot per ton. Extra heat sinks take up a slot each (engines come with 10, although some or all of those are internal to the engine), and so on.

Now... do I think MWO will follow those rules exactly? No, probably not. However, since they've said they're going to follow the TT rules fairly closely, and there's been mention of variants, I think a full-customization 'mechlab ala MW3 is probably right out. (In TT rules, customizing an existing 'mech is a time-consuming and expensive process, and runs the risk of making it less effective.)

*Attempts to read*...

*Takes off glasses and rubs eyes*

*Puts glasses back and and attempts to read again*

*Gets halfway through, shakes head and gives up*

Sorry man.. I tried to read it but either English isn't your first language, or you need to slow down and think about not only what you're saying, but how you say it.

Please don't misunderstand, I'm not going to dog you out here nor am I trying to make fun of you. Near as I can tell you're trying to expound on slots and weapons vs. crits and weapons.. I think...

<S> Best of luck, please revise and I'll come back for a second look later.

Its looking like weapons wont be customisable at all- in canon you dont just whack weapons on and off willy nilly, you merely have your mech and the weapons it was designed to wield, and then there are a few variants of each mech that are either produced as that variant or take weeks to refit the mech into.
The MW4 system to be honest is a bit silly. Look at the wolfhound for example. It is not an omni mech. That arm laser is a single arm laser. Yet somehow you can place 4 smaller lasers inside that single arm cannon.
