Black Sheep Battlemechs

Sure the thing is fast, sure it carries a Large Laser to keep mechs at a distance but, the thing falls apart if the pilot so much as sneezes in the cockpit or some kid throws a rock at it. If there is falling in this game, the Hussar could die before it even sees an enemy as a fall to the ground could crush an entire section.
Makes me think of George of the Jungle theme song. "Watch out for that treeeeeeee!"

I never questioned the Blackjack as a mech. In fact I praised it in earlier post. It is just that AC2 is not that good in PC games compared to its usefulness in TT.
I still don't see the logic of it being useful at all in TT. You have no control over where you hit outside of dice rolls, and lets be honest, 2 points don't matter when the end result always ends up looking like a shotgun spread. Well placed shots in a PC game that include reticle disruption for the opposing 'Mech vastly outweigh the randomness included in TT.

It isn't. The AC/2 is crap in whatever you're playing.

Of course everyone uses the Charger for it's name sake. If you managed to crash into someone with the Charger, anything below the Charger's weight is gonna be obliterated.
Of course it is not gonna catch an Osiris anytime soon (or any late era heavy for the record) so use it to suicide other assaults or even some 3025 mediums which are slower than it.

Hey now....I like the SH.....it's a 55 ton mech with 2 long range weapons that do 5 damage each. In close it's decent weaponry to finish things off. Now if it was a heavy then that would be different.

Stock shadow hawk is bad, a kaboom waiting to happen and defencless when the ammo runs out, it does much better with the 3050 upgrades.
Urbie, well its an Urbie, if its outside a city or not in a caynon its outof its element, But the 3025 mechwarrior game its ac 10 had a good range/damage profile. If you could get your lance mates to cover you it could snipe and kill mechs at range it just needed support. The AC20 varient is enough to make assaults pause, ...... till after it moves then its dead.

How bout the Kraken? Used right, that can make an absolute mess of many 'mechs. At the same time if you're lucky...
Of course, we're probly not gonna see it here any time soon...

I'm interested in hearing what you consider "black sheep" or completely worthless Battlelechs, from an in-universe stand point. You know, the kind of design that even a dispossessed Mechwarrior would say "No thanks, I'd rather stay dispossessed than pilot THAT thing!"
Here are a few off the top of my head.
Urbanmech - pretty mich any variant
Blackjack - BJ-1
Banshee - BNC-3E
Scorpion - Primarilly the SCP-1N model
Personally I find it very fun and challenging to pilot these types of 'mechs, so this isn't just another questionaire on 'mech designs you hate but what the lore describes as generally distained by the vast majority of in-universe Mechwarriors.
As you've defined it I don't think there is such a thing as a black sheep 'mech. As even the sub par designs would find a use.
The closest you could get would be the charger and even that was often used as a training 'mech, or as a specialist hand to hand combat 'mech.
As far as the Jaeger 'mech goes I don't know if you've faced it across an open plan while in a lightly armoured 'mech, but all of a sudden 2 AC5s & 2 AC2s looks quite scary.
In perfect world everybody would have a warhammer6d but as in real life there aren't enough top end toys for everybody to have one.
So there will always be a place for the Jaegermechs and Cicadas of the Battle tech universe

It's quite different when 1 mech mounts 10 Ultra AC/2's. It's also quite funny when 8 of them jam in 1 turn.
