20 megs/ s is fine for playing an online game. Don't worry about it.

What matters more is your ping.. as long as you're above 3 or 4 Mbps, it wouldn't be an issue with download/upload rates. Lower than 3 or 4 should still be adequate but depending on the packeting optimisation, it could be an issue and start to bottleneck things.

Hi,
If you want to play online games then your ping will be less than 50ms.First You can check your ping by pinging google.com or any websites using cmd prompt or using free online websites like Whoisxy.com.If your ping is below 50ms then your internet connection is good otherwise you must contact your service provider

O_O. There goes my astonishment for the morning.
Pings in the order of 200 ms are perfectly playable, this is not a twitchy game, so even higher pings could do.
Ping also depends on where you are playing from in relation to the server. If you are EU based, or Hawaii, a ping of 50 is probably physically unachievable.

I am surprised that no one commented on packet loss. An high packet loss means poor quality connection, and it would effect your gameplay experience much more than a high ping, since your actions won't get sent and others received from/to the server.

But bandwidth wise, no worries, you would probably do fine with an ISDN @ 128kbs.

I will agree with many here, slow download speed is fine as long as you have a good ping with low packet loss. The packet loss will cause a much larger disruption than a high ping (the two are interrelated though). A "good" ping is anywhere up to 200(ish).
