Titan Mode

Now, titan mode as implemented in 2142 wouldn't work here...we're not launching our mechs 300 meters striaght up and fighting inside a DropShip. But some form of objective mode where you need to do X damage to the enemy dropship to get it onto the ground, then X more damage to destroy it could be a lot of fun.

Especially ones involving fighting in or on the outer hull of dropships, jumpships and recharge stations!
Also the giant space iceberg water delivery things like that mission in Mercs.. and on moons/astroids with no atmospheres.

Your right forgot about them but it did still happen occasionly but maps set in any new or different environments
like space, asteroids, no atmosphere environments would be cool. MW2 (or one of its offspring) had a mission on a moon in vacuum which meant no sound effects, that was pretty nice.

Now you've got me looking for a funny piece of fanart. We were joking around one day about how infantry weapons can do BattleMech-scale damage and someone brought up anti-aircraft fire. Next thing you know we asked someone to draw a picture of a dropship getting shot down by a redneck with a hunting rifle.

Two months later, and I finally found it. Thanks flyingdebris!

Dropships could be used as bases however, with reloading ammo, refilling coolant (if that's part of gameoplay(and before somebody starts yammering about that, this isn't what this post is about), extended sensors, and of course a hell of a lot of extra firepower while you're near it, including much faster reloads for commanders artillery kind of stuff (because while you and your team may be expendable, a dropship is an important piece of equipment, and higher ups are gonna give you extra artillery, airstrikes, and so on to keep it protected)
It's somethign that would take coordiantion to take down.
Now to make it even more fun, pat a capture objective on the same map, but far away from the dropship. If you capture the objective (a whiskey refinery?) and hold iot long enough, a timer starts counting down, and when it counts down to zero, your drop ship will take off and your team wins (unless it gets destroyed of course)
So multiple ways of winning (kill everyone, ill the enemy dropship, capture the objective, then defend your dropship)

Perhaps even some wrenches tossed into battles, planet is 100 degrees Kelvin during the day and -100 degrees at night, you're battle starts at dawn so you experience both sides of the coin. Let's see how well your side adapts.
Anyone remember playing with map editors for MW2:Mercs? Change the gravity and watch your Urbie FLY across the map lol. Or set the ambient temperature so high that even with nothing except for heat sinks and your 'Mech standing still you would over heat and explode.
