Let's just hope that the popularity of MW:O won't make other companies rush to churn out half-baked MW products in the hopes of selling them along with the growing hype.

At the very least if MW:O turns out to be a great, persistent game, once the content on the other products run out, they'll still have MW:O to fall back to for their Battletech fix (assuming they didn't try it out in the first place due to preference or lack of knowledge).

I've never been a fan of Mechcommander or Mechassault so I will not be trying out either of those games. Either way, 3 companies or more advertising different products of the same genre/IP will reach a wider audience for all three. Not everyone will play all three, but there will be people who will want a change of pace or just to try out something new. It can't be a bad thing unless the other products are poorly made.

A turn based strategy game just might be the thing to kill time while waiting for the rest of the pre-built company players to log on. Could imagine some pretty intense smack talk over the comms.

Agree with all those that are saying the "assault" games will draw those gamers who are only looking for a "FPS with cool looking robot suits" away from MWO. Won't miss them as they would be the guys that would be running straight into the enemy pulling the trigger until they themselves go boom.
