Yeah, yeah...for the TT.

MWO seems to be using a different scale index.

So as those techs in the trailer seem to be quite small. I wonder if PGI has gone with the old BT scales. Where a summoner was like 17m high and now it is something like 12m high.

Mechs range roughly from 8-14m. Thats from the smallest 20 tonner to the tallest 100 tonner. Look at the tech at the very beginning of the video. Mark how high he is compared to the atlas's leg. Lets figure the tech is around 1.8 meters tall, and then compare that to the concept art. The atlas is roughly 15 meters tall... give or take a meter

i've not read through the entire set of replies yet... *only got about half-way throug page one*... Anywho, if anyone has mentioned this, then ignor me, BUT, if you were to take into consideration of the teaser that has reciently been released... the avg. human hight is about 1.5-1.8m in height. the Atlas shown in the teaser is EASILY 20-30 times taller than the hanger-hand climbing down it's leg. That wouls put MWO's Assault scale roughtly 30-40m in height.

Though, i do agree of the original canon concept of an Atlas being 18-20m tall (roughly 35'), allowing for both eyes to be used as the cockpit viewports, this teaser concept is "showing" both eyes and nose as outward view, however the size of the head isn't taken into consideration when you factor in the avg. height of a human. that would only allow for 1 eye to be the viewport, not both.

ok... --looking at Lima Zulu's "madskillz" :D--.. i could be wrong on my assumptions and guesstimations of the Atlas' height.

Lima Zulus looks better, but I did a similar (all be it quick and dirty) thing earlier for a discussion I was having with some friends in IRC

I remember seeing a giant three or four legged mech in a trailer for a mechwarrior tabletop game.

How big would that be in comparison to an Atlas?

(and what is it!)

There you have it.. my engineering CAD skills meet my rudimentary photoshop skills.

I KNOW the Atlas looks Large.. comparing him to a standard US man height (1.75 Meter) and a Large SUV you realize its defiantly proportional.

Also gets you roughly 13-15 M tall just as per the Tech manuals.

As for the room in the Cockpit.. Compare the SUV Driver area to that of the head.. and you will see agin I think it looks just about right.

Note the image of the Atlas is Mirrored to help get a better comparison to leg image..

Now that said, if Russ is right at 18M.. then the Service guy and the guy in the Ford ad could simply be shorter or sckewed for the "basis of the scale". As everything is based off them being 1.75 M without the hats.

Impressive CAD/Photoshop Skills..

However, I can't say the same about your English skills. ;) (It's supposed to be "The Atlas is not too big"...)

Don't remember where I saw it, but I thought the Atlas was about 17m tall...

That was old FASA some where along the line someone thought that was too big and retcon'd it.

Read it was 13M in one book.. and 15M in another..

I even think my scaling of the Atlas may be a bit off.. by maybe 10%.. either way.. for basic comparison.. it looks good..
Was thinking of posting the best we can get out of the trailer of the Jenner and the Hunchback here to for conversation..

I had no idea people were complaining about the height of the Atlas from the trailer.

The point is they are merging all the threads.. and its hard to follow some specific conversations. If they pulled specific conversations into its own thread may not have a lot of problems. This thread in particular isnt about the Trailer as much as the Mechs and their comparable sizes and shapes..

Its a hard thread to follow in the main trailer thread.. but it was being discussed.. Kind of why I made this thread
