sorry i bet there are alot of these kind of questions but im a console guy and never really into pc games where i have to change for better internal parts. will this card run mwo on at least medium settings? i have a radeon hd 7450 (btw what does each number in the model signify?) and it runs but slow and it tends to ruin my aim and what not. thanks in advance

You'd be better off and cheaper off getting a 560 ti or 570. They are more stable and they are barely worse for a lot lower price.

And I have a 550 ti that runs this game no problem.

I built my brothers computer with a gtx460 and he runs the game on max settings with no slowdown whatsoever, even during the craziest fights.

I would suggest going to www.newegg.com and using their comparison tool. It will show a line by line comparision.

A 640 would definetely do it. I run it just fine on a 560. I recommend you look at a wikipedia article regarding video card versions, that will let you know what the numbers mean.

First there are hardware support forums just for this reason. Next, the 640 is a terrible card… yes it is marginally better than the minimum, but it is significantly worse than the recommended.

The GTX 460 is much better and the 560 Ti/570 cards significantly better still. The 550 Ti is probably closest to your budget and even it would be a massive improvement.

in response to the other part of your question, the first number (7)450 or (6)40 will designate the series and the rest will indicate the performance. so a 7450 will not be better than a 6950 but is newer and more efficient. however a 6950 is not necessarily the same as a 5950 or a 7950 but each of these will be close to the best in that particular series. same with nvidia, x30 will be rubbish x40, x50, x60 are mid range and x70, x80 are high end x90 is generally a dual gpu card If I'm not mistaken.

a word of caution, the numbers can only be used as a rough guide for comparing between ranges. a 5850 is better generally than a 6850 but a 7950 is better than a 6950. generally video card reviews will compare multiple cards playing multiple games. googling "6950 review" gives http://www.overclock...0_review/12.htm for example where you can compare performance to a higher accuracy. another very good resource for someone on a budget (which is basically all of us lol) is toms hardware's best card for the money (http://www.tomshardw...eview,3107.html) that they do each month.

anyway, good luck. you are now officially one of us (one of us, one of us)

Radeon Nomenclature
First number (7) is the series – higher tends to be newer
Second number (4) quality – higher is better
Third & Fourth numbers (50) performance – higher is better

The 7000 series is the newest.

The 400 quality is value ranked; above budget, but below mainstream, high-end and enthusiast.

The 50 performance is low; only better than the 30 rating.

Yeah, the GT cards aren't meant for gaming... They are made for HD playback and multi-monitor support in an office environment. You need a GTX... get a 4 or 5 series GTX instead of a 6-series GT.

Never been a fan of ATI cards. Nvidia cards just plain have better driver support for newer games.

Isnt a HD7450 faster than a 275GTX ?

To the OP, what CPU are you running ? You may find you won't get much if any gains by upgrading the gpu at all if that is bottlenecking you. (That is if the 7450 is better than a 275GTX, )

If it isnt better than the 275, then yeah you will also need a new gpu as well probably, as my 275GTX runs crysis 2 at around 40fps on basically max everything. (I reduce the view distance as my cpu chugs when thats too high)

Nvidia GTX275 dominates the ****** AMD 7450.

I'm running a GTX 460 with a Phenom II x4 945 and it runs fine on High. Runs even better at Low and there isnt even that much of an appreciable difference in graphics.

If you want a card and are willing to spend a bit then the HD7850, GTX660ti and HD7950 are excellent cards.
