I hope I'm not beating a dead horse with this, as I've been away some time.


With the tabletop roots of BT, and all the incredible MW games, I really crave a campaign mode to MWO.

The idea struck me, that if there wasn't going to be a 'full PVE system', then perhaps a player-fueled campaign/map creator could work.


I'm sure some of the old tabletop DM's out there would *love* to create and run campaigns, myself included.

Maps could be single or multiplayer, scaling options would be a nice boon.... anyway, I think it has a lot of potential.

yea, arena pvp will get old after a while with no story or PVE driven content

Two Words:

Community Warfare.

PVE/Single player/Campaign content is not gonna be in this time for a very long time if it get into the game at all.

If that's the case - then a lot of people I know are not gonna join this game for a very long time, if at all.


I myself hold very low regard for any game that is solely arena pvp.


For this game to claim the name "Mercenaries" is a joke, if there's to be no mercenary campaigning.

What we have here is "Solaris arena" plain and simple.

You both are new... Dragon's got it right... actually READ about the Community Warfare they have planned... and they've just touched on the most basic bits in the link above...

This game is not claiming anything that has to do with mercenaries.
Where the flippin hell do you get that idea from?
I hope you are not getting that from my sig are you?

This game is Mechwarrior online, where is the mercenaries in that?

And Solaris Arena?
Where in the whole wide world do you get your totally misinformed ideas from?

Have you played the game or even so much as read anything about the game?

Please go to the Developers corner of the game and read the things posted there.
Read the dev blogs and Q&A's and get informed about what this game is all about.

You are so misinformed about the game that it saddens me so much it almost hurts.

Guilds are called "Mercenary Units"

The only game mode is PVP matches que'd through a matchmaking system. Therefore "Solaris Arena".
Whatever framework it's meshed into (supposed "conquering planets" etc) - it still is an "Arena PVP" game style.


Where, so far, am I misinformed?

You do know that Merc units can fight over planets right. You do know that a solaris arena would be a death match and there is no death match in this game. You do know that they are going to be adding more than just the current gameplay right? The devs are the GMs of this game as they are keeping it to actual BT lore.

The reason you got bashed is that you show no understanding of what is being added to the game or the fact that the community warfare is what you are asking for minus the player created/controled things.

So just because of the name of the website you automatically assume it have something to do with mercenaries regardless of whether it does or not.
The game does not claim to be anything with mercenaries, its called Mechwarrior Online, I dont see what that has to do with mercenaries.
Assuming something about a game based on the website address is completely pointless because it rarely if ever says anything about the game

You dont take the time to read and understand what this game is all about, you just assume that the game will be some solaria arena thing and make a blanket uninformed statement saying that is what the game is.

You dont take the time to do a search and see that this has been posted several times before, you just make another post about it.

And I did not respond to your OP, I responded to your second post which came off as a blanket uninformed statement about the game, and it honestly sounded like you were complaining about it.

If you want people to listen to you, it helps to read about the game before making blanket uninformed statements.
There are far more to this game than just some Solaris arena thing, and I asked some pointed questions in the hopes that you would take the time to think about what you were saying and at least try learn about the game and understand what its really about.

The fans of this game are very protective of it because its the first real MW game in over 10 years, and they want it to succeed as this could lead to more games in the genre.

The community here are actually very respectful, but when you make so uninformed posts as you do here allot of them can get very upset.
I have seen first hand how people here have been trolled and called noob (general statement, not directed at you) for making blanket uninformed statements about the game.
The responses you got here were actually very friendly and respectful compared to many of the other responses I have seen around the forums, even if the were rather harsh.

There are allot about the game you dont seem to know, so I highly recommend you take a little time to read about it.
If you do, you will see that this game has far more to it than just some arena deathmatch style play.
