If I go out and buy the technical readouts will I find them compatible with this game? What I mean is will the mechs in this game bear any resemblance to the mechs from previous games and books, or are y'all coming up with new designs? If using old names will those mechs be just like how they always are?

Depends on what you mean by compatible. Yes they are using mechs from the TRO. However Its not like they're going to be a straight up 1:1 reference like a game guide or something. FWIW you can find most of the info you want online without buying the TRO.

Yah ..don't get the TROs expecting a MWO game guide

But they'll most likely use them as reference and inspiration

Also, check out http://solaris7.com/...eMech/index.asp . Several of the designs are fan-made, but it also has the full Specs for the canon variants.

I greatly hope that MWO has detailed readouts of each mech, their history, variants, and costs of each. I expect the last 2 parts at least, but the history and specifications (purpose for creation) is something that I think is sorely left out of many games.

from what i see they have same weapons load out as tro. only exception is there are no rear facing lasers, those are moved forward. I like this change to forward facing weapons. The archer for example usually has 2 forward facing med lasers and 2 rear facing. With the min distance on lrms and only having 2 med up front is a p.i.t.a.
