Short movie I made in Lightwave with two great 'mech universes.

Audio from Heavy Gear.

Heavy gear was alot of fun both TT and on the PC. Liked the universe(though it was smaller than BT). Though it seems BT won in the end. (though Dream Pod 9 is still publishing a Heavy gear mini's game).

I like how they used only Machine guns to take that other Mech out lol

It's not a mech, AFAIK.

An amusing video. As I watched it my first thought was, as soon as the Gear started shooting at the Elemental, the other four would have swarmed it.

I remember the original HG intro video that Activision made. How the Gear's torso opened up and the pilot bailed before the it was destroyed.

Very nice.

Interestingly I believe there is a new Heavy Gear game that has been greenlite by another publisher. Would be interesting to see a game like Heavy Gear 1 and Mechwarrior on the market at the same time <_<

I'm really stunned! This is great! I love how you integrated the original sound with the new animation. The execution is definetely on par with the already great idea behind it.

I must admit that I have been critical of some of your previous work. First of all, of course, there aren't enough people doing Battletech- and 'Mech-related animations, so I thought it was great that you have so many things online (especially real short films, not just animation tests). On the other hand I always thought you clearly showed enough skill that the end product could look a lot more polished and most of your work unfortunately does not.

But this is a huge step in the right direction, if I may say so. There's still a few things that could be polished but I'm in no position to criticize you for that.

Heavy Gear 2 and MechWarrior 3 were out around the same time. HG2 felt more like an FPS which sort of worked as Gears are more like infantry than 'Mechs.

HG2 was damn fun but they did somethign wrong as ONLY US versions was available and I could never map keyboard correctly since the game refused to aknowledge the keys.

Never got escape button to work.

Except that a Gear is much faster and more maneuverable than any elemental, and so would have no problem ventilating all of them.

Good job, nicely done

except the elemental is all wrong in 1 key element.

The Right arm is the small laser.

The 'mentals MG is under slung on the Left arm, in that bump you added you didn't add the barrel to.

But otherwise nicely done.

He's using the original soundtrack from the HeavyGear 2 intro, all the weapons used were machine guns and autocannons.

Stompy Bot Productions has announced that they're working on a new Heavy Gear title. I'm interested in seeing how it pans out, but I'm not holding my breath.

A point of Elementals can be equipped with either a laser, machine gun, or a flamer. They can use a larger variety of weapons than this though. The weapon underslung on the opposite arm is usually a shotgun or detachable submachine gun.

Valid point Hana

But most times, its the stock Small in the right, mg in the left, and srm pack.

And the design shown would be with the Small Laser. I would have expected to see it with something actually looking like an MG rather than a stock laser type look, hence my thoughts and comments.
