ok just wow, i just saw a photo or a video of someone playing and pointing at an enemy or friendly mech which is assumingly the enemys hp in %?

if this is true that its gonna be like world of tanks, ok you have taken 1 shoot to the torso, and 1 in each arm baaam now your dead. then this game will die out pretty fast...do not screw up the system as it was in mechwarrior 3 and 4, only mecha games i played.

if they do, i think this game will blend away pretty darn fast

Can you provide a link to the image you are referring to?

Also, even if it were true, it would have no bearing on the amount of damage a mech takes per shot. So, I don't think your conclusion follows.

It's the mech's overall armor percentage, not health. Mech's aren't alive. ;)

So realistically, you don't have to get a Mech down to 0% to kill it because you don't have to shear off all armor to kill a mech.

Just in case this is NOT a troll thread.

Damage is still done by sections of the mech. The percentage is just a brief sensors read.

Welcome to the forums, please read up and catch up.

I won't kill you like that. I prefer death from above. Much quicker, cleaner, and I find it more humane. ;)

This has been covered by the devs in one of their many discussions/QnAs.

There is a percentage on your HUD next to the currently targeted mech, but it only gives a rough estimate to the overall health of the enemy. For a far more accurate picture you should rely on the secondary screen that shows where they've been hit and how badly. You do not have to get an enemy down to 0% to kill them, eg. you can core a 'mech at ~65% health if the center torso armor is gone or you crown them.

I guess the OP refers to the the trailer from 2009 for Mechwarrior 3015, which actually showed the HP of the Atlas in percent.

Detailed information on damage to enemy units requires both the equipping of the proper "modules", and maintaining LoS on the unit for a certain length of time, which is somewhat dependent on XP devoted to scouting/recon abilities. I suspect that any percentages you are seeing are the lowest-fidelity measure of damage to enemy units, with more detailed HTAL and even breakdowns of weapons loadout and location-specific critical damage available to units who are properly equipped.

The percent thing is just there for an average, obviously if you core an enemy mech in the center and never touch his other parts it'll probably go from like 60% to dead in the next shot the totally destroys the center torso.

You worry too much. When your health bar gets low you run through the glowing health boxes, (repair kits) if you've done enough damage. Its not like it stays low, sheesh.

I think the % hp should be more useful to support pilots on a Catapult since they should be using indirect fire over the enemy as opposed to aim to a section from more close up mechs

The first video link posted .... Mechs feel clunky and lacking response just from watching the action. Makes me want to tell the pilot to use the torso and hunt more actively for targets LOL

Does it look/feel like that because of the restrained joystick input or are (twitchy) mouse users affected in a similar way?

I don't know where you're getting this percentage nonsense.

Regardless, you can represent just about anything as a percentage, if you want. That doesn't mean that's necessarily how the game recognizes it internally.
