Technically not a meme but I made this in the Last Post thread and I think it deserves to be here.

Somewhere, sometime during the 3rd Succession war, there were two Battlemech companies - one Draconis Combine unit and a Federated Suns unit, both on different sides of a mountain range. While both units were on their side of the mountain range deciding how best to attack the other, the pilot of a lone Centurion yells out over open comms:

"Hey, CrazyDracs! I got separated from my unit a few hours ago, but I'm not scared! I bet I can take on 10 of you."

The Draconis commander, infuriated, immediately ordered 10 Dragons through the pass. They charged, screaming "BANZAI!" through their comms, eager to put a cocky Feddie in his place. Autocannon shots rang out, missiles screamed in the distance, and laser shots sizzled the air. After 10 minutes of what sounded like furious combat, all went silent.

"Well?!" the Commander demanded. The Federation pilot replied.

"Pff, that was easy! I bet my one Centurion can take on another 50 of you!"

The Draconis commander, even more angry now, ordered another 50 Dragons through the pass. Shots, explosions, lasers, and missiles could be heard for 30 minutes. Suddenly all battle ceased. Smirking, the Commander requested the status of his units. The Centurion pilot responded instead.

"Wow, that's all you guys got? I bet me and my Centurion can take on 1,000 of you losers!"

The commander, absolutely enraged, face red and grinding his teeth, swung his Hamoto-Chi's arm out and at the top of his lungs ordered his remaining 1,000 BattleMechs to charge. Dragons, Maulers, and Jenners charged in without fear, screaming over their comms.

Hundreds of Autocannons firing in sync echoed throughout the mountain. Lasers zapped throughout the mountain range in a lightshow of death. Missiles screamed through the sky and landed over the horizon. Pilots screamed in agony or victory over their comms as dozens of mechs exploded into scrap heaps every minute. It was the bloodiest, most intense battle the war had ever seen, and it lasted for a full 24 hours before the last few "booms" echoed through the mountains.

The commander, not sure what had happened, pressed his radio button. "Hello? Men, what has happened? Have we achieved victory?"

"Commander, sir!" A lone Mauler limped out into the open, its arms missing, one leg cut off at the ankle. It was blowing smoke, and electricity arced across its bullet and laser burn-riddled body. The commander, horrified, rushed over and asked what had happened.

"Have we won, soldier? Is victory ours?"

"No, sir!" the crippled MechWarrior replied. "It's been a trap the whole time! There are actually two Centurions!"

The effort is appreciated. That the effort was necessary, however, is just a bit depressing.

The number of people that don't understand RGB is shockingly depressing as well, given how everyone even arguing about it is using a screen using RGB tech.

R+G=Y
G+B=C
B+R=M
R+G+B=W
W-R-G-B=BK

W-Y=B, B-B=BK.

Therefore white-yellow and blue-black differ in the exact same way that the former member of the pair contains more blue than the latter pair.

If you add yellow, blue-black turns into white-yellow...
And if you subtract yellow, white-yellow turns into blue-black.

A simple +255/230 operation on the Steiner logo and a -255/230 operation on the Piranha logo proves that indeed, Steiner is actually golden, and Piranha belongs in the deep, blue, sea.

Gold and white are the colours of angels and other heavenly structures because the sky is blue.

everytime I try to explain my GF ther is no yellow on a pc is driving me crazy when she tries to bring her paint colowheel logic.

There's no such thing as a wavelength of light that can be assigned the colour magenta because magenta is a production of the human mind. Along the same lines of colour addition subtraction and addition, bear in mind that to add any colour has an identical effect on your eye to removing the colour of its 'complement' and adding brightness.

If you don't believe me, start with a colour on your computer 127-127-127, or 'middle grey'. Add any number you like to any of the colours. Save it. Now subtract the same number from the other two numbers. For example, 187-127-127 vs 127-67-67. The one with smaller numbers definitely appears dimmer. Now raise the brightness on that one. It'll eventually look identical to 187-127-127.

In order to deal with an entire spectrum of colours with only red, green and blue receptors in the eye, our brain fakes it by multiplying fractions of light. If something is 50% red and 50% yellow, it will appear orange to you, even if there is no light travelling to your eye at the orange wavelength. Consequently we are also incapable of distinguishing mixtures of colour from 'pure' wavelengths of the 'intermediate' colour.

We are unable to perceive anything below red and anything above violet. So the problem arises when we have mixtures of light of red and blue-violet wavelengths. Normally, if red + blue receptors sound, the eye will use the 'average wavelength', which should be green ish, except the green receptor isn't firing. Your brain cannot display 'green' when it knows it isn't green, but it needs a way to let you know that you are seeing a mixture of blue and red... so it invents an arc to 'join' red and violet on the colour 'wheel', and places 'magenta' there. Ergo, hot pink. The wheel doesn't actually exist, there are far more colours below red and above violet that we just can't see since we don't have receptors for them.

This is a simplification of course. We have more receptors than merely red, green and blue. But you get the idea.

Incidentally in early closed beta some players thought that other players were using yellow lasers even though no such thing existed. It was actually red small lasers fired in sync with green medium lasers, if I recall correctly, on the JR7-F chassis, before the beam points got separated. I believe you see 6 different lines now, instead of two yellow lines, if you fire a 2 MLAS 4 SLAS alphastrike.

As always, the effort is appreciated, even though the result... kind of isn't, really. If it was a total of at least 5 kills plus assists, it would be doable every game, because 10+ assist lulz.

If you're wondering why, it's because if a teammate shoots a target with lasers 2 seconds after 3x of my PPCs slam into the target's red CT, the kill and damage will be credited to the teammate. That's what high ping can do for you™. The damage is reflected correctly after a few seconds, so the netcode's good enough for that, just that if the target dies, my damage tends to be added last.

There are other artifacts - for instance, the damage from the final hit isn't credited to me because the mech died from the server's point of view before I fired, and dead mechs don't reflect damage numbers. Because of that my 'death from thousand cuts' type Jenner tends to rack up nearly 600-1000 damage per match, but the 'one shot kill' type Thunderbolt tends to do only 210 damage with 10 assists.

It's just a stat thing though. Gameplay wise dead is dead, so it's still fine. When playing warthunder in comparison, the ping handling is so bad that aircraft can phase through time and kill a teammate long after they're already 'dead'.

After teammates destroy the DWF that suddenly became incapable of any form of reverse movement...



One teammate remained and he got essentially a free kill.









Result: 12-10 victory, other dude with 40% HP, me with like 60% but no arm.
