A concept that has been talked about quite a bit (on and off, since at least 2014). Assign each weapon a value of energy consumption. Now each mech has an energy reserve that replenishes quickly. However, when you fire a lot of weapons, you draw a lot of energy. Thus you need to limit the number of weapons fired. (basically they made a second heat bar, that works in reverse). The concept is mainly championed by people who think we get to fire too many weapons in an alpha strike, while citing Tech 1 TT as their source. Forgetting that in TableTop we had things like a penta Gauss mech, and mechs that could fire up to 10 weapons in an alpha strike, without overheating.

And also that the result was exactly what some feared: Ghost Heat Mk2
The only penalty was extra heat
Only, instead of from only firing 5 SRM launchers, you also got it from firing 3 SRM launchers and 2 lasers (if damage exceeded the threshold)
A different penalty could have been better received, but Ghost Heat Mk2 was just stale
Meme...
Was the end result.
