We used to have people talking about whether lasers should have knockback or knockforward based on their actual physical effects. People talking about weapon balance from mapping TT values (and how the RoF change without an associated heat change disrupts the original balance), from gameplay perspectives (to mathematically match their damage output to weight, heat and ammo restrictions to avoid weapons from being useless)... how to change stuff to keep the flavour of equipment while not making stuff necessarily useless. People talking about suggestions on new game modes that could lead to more desirable gameplay outcomes. There was the crowd which made noise on stuff they didn't like, but they almost always had a specific solution in mind that they fed back over and over again.

... what happened?

Actually i participated in closed beta under another name ... and now that open beta is here, things changed, but not only because of free users ... also from some founders that think they know everything better than pgi ... people "losing faith" because they want it all NOW. Sad story bro.

Ok, made the meme on imgflip's meme generator, and tried using the url for the meme with the image to edit my post but got a "you are not allowed to use that image extension on this community" error message. What did I do wrong?

When you've clicked "generate meme" and the image appears, click on "image page", then right click and copy/paste the image.

Do not use the url that they give you. Hope this helps

And as far as DFA goes, technically, I am performing them but so could anyone else. And no: for the moment, it doesn't do anything other than look wickedly cool. Practice, they say, makes perfect, and I plan to apply this to all my mechs. For instance, while it's a Highlander Burial when done in a Highlander, I figure when I do it in my JaegerMech, I'll refer to it as the JaegerBomb.
