Not to mention that, since they were manufactured from different factories with little concept of continuity, you had a 75% chance that the parts from one gun wouldn't work in another. The window in the magazine was designed for 'quick ammo counts' but instead would allow mud and grit into the magazine which is why it jammed so easily. Once jammed the gun needed to be taken completely apart and cleaned for it to work right. Sorry, history buff.
