The visible wheels at the bottom of the MWO Leopard give it a much better scale though.

Am I the only one who thought:

Four...
Three...
Two ...
One...

Earth below us
Drifting , falling
Floating weightless
Calling , calling home

Major Tom (coming home) - Peter Schilling

I was actually thinking of sounds in the game being oddly muted while Bastion's "I'm coming home" was playing.... ;)

"I set myself, fly the wind it will take me
Back to my home, sweet home."

"Lie on my back, clouds are making way for me
I'm coming home, sweet home."

Yup that's the ol' flying brick! ;) FD did good.
Although looking over at Paul's stickied reply now made my wallet throw itself at the screen again. He says it is in-game graphics, man this will be a sweet game and I might need to upgrade the memory on my system. Granted I can play MW:LL with no problems but now I'll desire to crank the video graphics to 11 on both games!

Some of the commentary yesterday as to what dropship is featured in the latest MWO trailer suggested this might not be the Leopard dropship because of the hot drop bay doors on the bottom of the ship. Well, I can find no reference showing or saying the Leopard did not ever have this capability. The "gull wing" type doors are evident in the video meaning the leopard can be configured for hot drops or more static landing deployment.

Maybe some of you more knowledgeble BattleTech folks can comment on this.

Well FD might have went the path of "Screw the rules, I am the artist!" but again I never new a lot about the Leopard to start with.

Shoot, the scale of that Leopard...imagine an Overlord. Imagine the man hours and material that goes into building just one of these behemoths. Imagine the freaking engineer who designed it.

Kind of makes you glad you're a MechWarrior and all you do is drive, point, and shoot...

fake 1080p ;) , not really sharp, looks like it's upscaled a lot

Hmm, indeed, if you take still shots of the 480p, 720p and 1080p version, it does not look sharper. Something went wrong at the source?

The venerable Leopard, like many Succession War survivors, has had numerous modifications made throughout the vessel's class, mostly minor differences owing to the numerous manufacturers throughout known space such as the version produced in the Magistracy of Canopus that mounts Parti-Kill PPCs instead of the large lasers.

From sarnanet's wiki and honestly I see drop bays on the bottom of the ship as one of the numerous mods.

Ah, it could be, that YouTube is still processing the 720p and 1080p version. Well, let's wait and see.

It makes more sense that way anyway, imho. In the MW3 outro (?) we saw them stepping out of the sides for a hot drop, but that is kind of silly. (And in a GBL cut scene, you saw a dropship just woooshing by and then suddenly Mechs fall from the sky ;).)

Exactly, it would be awe inspiring to see one of those things. Hell, they'd be bigger then the MW2 and 4 Overlords combined.

Strictly speaking, the Leopard only has four doors for it's Mechs and two for it's fighters, aligning perfectly with it's four mech bays and two fighter bays, but that may or may not mean that they're represented by only one door per bay. After seeing the video, I'm thinking that each mech bay may have a vertical as well as a horizontal bay door. Nothing in the rules would preclude this approach from working as far as I can tell.

Honestly Atlas, I think this is a case where the doors that we know about from AT2 are actually represented by more than just one door per bay but only count for one total door per bay. Each bay could only access it's own doors, but there's two doors for each bay, one horizontal and one vertical.
