when reading stuff like this it bitterly reminds me how lazy pgi is acting
by regretting to implementing even small pieces of the huge ammount of lore
the mechwarrior universe has to offer into the game client.
They missing a big opportunity to make MWO a worthy successor
of the previous mechwarrior games. With ui2.0 they easily coud have implement
parts of the backgound infos and history of the battletech universe.
Sure there is stuff to find on the inter-webs and in the MWO forums but
many players wont take notice of it and in their eyes
just playing a game with robots and some factions with cool logos.
The gameplay of MWO is awesome and entertaining no doubt,
but the fact that PGI holds the license for mechwarrior with all its content background wise
and taking no effort to make use of it is just a shame. They ignore the battletech history part
and keeping it completly out of the game, they regret to become a memorable part of the franchise or just standing up to the products of the past to some degree.
There are 100s of mechs and weapon systems + equipment, but someone who never had contact
with the mechwarrior franchise never gonna know anything about their background storys.
I am sure even one employee with basic knowledge about the thematic coud have implemented quiet some content/info over the last 4 years.even if just copy pasted from sarna.net.
So much possibilities and so much wasted potential....
