I was actually idling on it, oops.

You guys might be surprised how much work goes into even preparing and making a video like the one you saw, or the stuff for GDC.

Also I wish I could go back in time and murder talk to whomever started that 'working in video games means happy fun video game playing times!' at work... :)

It really is a labor of love. I think of it as working in the kitchen of a popular restaurant. Things are busy and you and your co-workers are working your fingers to the bone and generally having a miserable time of making a delicious dish as fast as possible without ruining it. Meanwhile the chef is standing there chewing you out and the guests at table three (all professional food critics) think that their meal should have been out thirty minutes ago. When it's finally ready though, nothing beats the feeling you get watching them enjoy what you made.

Then you have to do it all over again the next night!

And then you hear them start to talk and ***** about how they could have done it better...

And you watch in slow motion as they shake enough salt over your dish to drown each and every flavor you meticulously crafted...

I never thought about comparing game development to working in a kitchen...but the similarities are eerie.

Also, I always throw something at people who do that when I cook. Surprisingly, I don't have a lot of repeat dinner guests...
