How are the servers in this game? What average ping do you get (If it's possible to check your ping) and are there any Australian players? If so which pings are you averaging. I'm interested because I am playing League of Legends at the moment (another F2P) and I average around a 180 ping in Australia, wondering if it's the same in MWO.

The only people that can answer these questions without breaking the NDA is PGI. Sorry.

Damn, I guess I'll have to wait till open beta to find out, thank you for the reply though.

This is one reason why I wish the NDA would be lowered or relaxed, so we can answer questions like these.

It would certainly influence a lot more people to buy a founders package if they had a bit of information about how the game runs, ping, etc.

Anyone with a founder tag is automatically in beta. Anyone with a founder tag can SAY they are in the beta because the Devs literally announced it publically.

Well, with so many players already in beta, there should be someone from Australia... right?

There is a vibrant Australian community in beta, using everything from Optus to Telstra to connect to us and pilot their mechs'.

I've heard, on many occasions "I'm Australian so I'm used to terrible pings and latency, but this surprisingly good!"
TL;DR - better than expected for Aussies, but still not as good as for Yankees.

Thanks, so it's much like League of Legends in which we get a 170 ping when the Americans get a 10-50 ping.

On the bright side, a bit of higher ping isn't as deadly here compared to twitch games like the CoDs and BF3s and I think LoL to an extent. Your Mechs can take hits and the gameplay of this genre is more tactical so I think 150-ish to 200 is bearable.

LoL is a game which relies on your ping to hit of spells and move with every mouse click in a fraction of a second and from experience the 170 ping isn't noticeable after you play for a while and get used to it. Yea it seems MWO should be much the same with a 170 ping not making a difference.

The purpose of being a beta tester in any game is to test the very things you are asking about and be a part of the process of improving them when and where improvement is needed. Most of the questions you are asking can't be properly answered, and by the time they are answered to your satisfaction the founders program will have ended.
My advice is, go look at the minimum system specs posted, look up the details of the hardware in those specs and the specs of your own machine, particularly the shader and directx compatibility of the graphics, and compare. Then look at the benefits of the different founders packages. If when you look at one of the packages combined with your systems specs and you feel comfortable, go for it. If not, don't.

I completely agree with your input about the beta testing and how my questions can't be answered. But i'm not worried about my computer specs, I would be easily able to run it with my pc I have already checked. I was asking about the ping and whether it is possible to play like other F2P games with NA servers.

Thanks for your feedback though/
