Just throwing this on the table. I don't wholeheartedly advocate this but if it can help generate any revenue, then I will be glad to have helped.

I suggest that certain companies be sought for advertising contracts for the opportunity to brand within the game. In another thread I mentioned custom cockpit couches like Recaro, Sparco, Momo, Sipher, Status, Bride, or other branded seats from known racing seat manufacturers.

But I also think that we should be able to identify ourselves with our gaming drink of choice. I'd like to start a list but will need some help from those who support the idea and especially if you would pay a buck for an annual supply of your fav drink, or a few bucks for a "drink pack" or some such. The thought behind it was, we all need to have our drinkage when we are playing. 7-Eleven is our friend and I actually know some of the heads in the franchise department. They are gung-ho for associating themselves with the next hottest game and MWO is going to be it. THEY would love to provide their logo for sticking up in the cockpit somewhere. Hanging off a monitor or maybe a magnet on a view shield pillar. Anything to remind us that we need some snackage / drinkage.

To name a few:

Monster
Rockstar
Red Bull
Full Throttle
Amp
Starbucks: DoubleShot
Frappuccino's
NOS
5-hour energy
FRS
Any soda
Milk, yoohoo, Choco-milk
Koolaid
Bawls
any kind of sweet or iced tea
Capris sun
Sunny D
Tang
Jamba Juice
Juice it up
Gatorade
Powerade
Any Vitamin or flavored water

Maybe even fictional drinks you might know like Slurm. Are there any drinks from BattleTech? I don't recall..

NO alcohol in the cockpit, sorry! bad example.

This is an..interesting idea. Tang fanatic, personally, but now that you mention it there are several companies in the lore of Battletech that are direct descendents of modern day companies, companies such as GM. Yes, THAT GM.

The problem would no doubt be with the fanbase: would having ingame sponsorship be considered betrayal (With what this community has gone through, "selling out" is hardly a relevant term compared to how we've been jinxed in the past), atleast with companies that don't have canon operations in the 31st century?

However, when it comes to parody drinks, seats, what have you and such, no holds barred. Alpha Strike of an Idea.

Can I put an add for say Coke or Pepsi on my Mech, shouldnt I get some of that income?

OK just kidding? or??

I mentioned in an other thread that they could have adds for stuff like video cards or whatever on Billboards in city maps and stuff like that.

If its tastfully done it would look really cool as well as possibly offer an income stream.

how is Mountain Dew not the first, (and only) drink that comes to mind for gamers?

on topic though +1, but with the option to turn off the "adds" (or defaulted off, but with the option to turn it on, or even buy the Mountain Dew logo on the backside of my mech)

I'll have a mini-fridge in my mech stuffed with chocolate milk. Proven to work better than "sports drinks" to replenish the body after strenuous workouts. Plus it's chocolate milk.

Pyramid Beer! Best brew in the Sphere! Look for it's unique shape in a cooler near you.

I don't mind adverts playing in the ready room or anything, but I'd rather not have them in game other than where you'd expect to see them, I don't want to see a can of pepsi max sitting on top of my damage display readout.

In universe; I'd probably have energy drinks and cereal bars in the fridge at the back of the cockpit along with the usual water and ration packs, adrenaline is good for keeping you alert, but for long engagements caffeine'll work better when it gets quieter.

...Drat.

I was totally hoping for a vodka in the cockpit. Because all of my pilots (in-character) are Russian.

...Or maybe a can of steel reserve. LOL.

@ Bluey: I left out hot tea and coffee because you don't want them spilling on you. I can put them in but how do you identify a container with a tea or coffee? I added starbucks which could be their energy drinks or a frapp.
@ Morkani: Covered under all sodas.
@ pursang: Done!
@ Dihm: Done! Make sure you drink your milk products before alpha striking.
@ Skwisgaar: I'll have some Chaucers myself, but after you climb down the ladder.
@ Nerts: You have the option of paying for the privilege to choose the drink you want in your newly retrofitted cup holder. LIke I said I don't love this idea but if it works for the masses and helps generate some operating cash for the devs, I'll support it. If your goodies are behind you... there wouldn't really be a point in having it in there at all because it wouldn't show up in any screenshots or vid of your cockpit. It would have to be overt.
@ Curon: +1 for mentioning vodka. But we know it could generate bad press. I'm sad too.

My thought was to identify YOU with your favorite stuff. Everyone wants this or that in their cockpit because it is who they are. My question is... how do you show it off? In a screenshot somewhere? In a vid? Maybe your profile can have a slot for your "cockpit screenshot". Other than that, even if you maneuver two mechs together in-game, you might not be able to see any of these items in your buddys cockpit. Maybe with some magnification... but that is another can of worms.

Parody drinks... yes. Real drinks? Hmmm...

Blue Ox- it gives you jets! (Red Bull)

Mechster Energy Drinks (Monster)

Gatorade (Gatorade - let's face it... it's that good)

Mang (Tang) [I can hear the commercial... Hey kids! Want some of this... MANG?!]

Rip-Off-Yer-C-Bills Coffee (Starbucks)

Only if you're in the FRR. That's a faction specific item.

Aside from needing the legal permission to model and use official logos, I can see "Cockpit knickknacks" as being a common selling point in the store; it lets you customize your "home" away from home, but it doesn't affect game aesthetics from other players.

Thing is, if I want a drink, I want my Jack Daniels Whiskey. There's nothing bad about alcohol, you just have to be a responsible consumer of it. Of course, if my Mech fell over due to gyroscopic overload, I'd make sure that my glass didn't spill on the way down.

The Kleais Kinship wasn't a clan. We were actual family that played MechWarrior. We each had a name that began with our real name, but was Greek in nature. My dad, who played MechWarrior, was Brutus Kleais. There were others who at one point we part of the Kin. The only way you could get into the Kin was by real-life marriage or relation.

And true that to the remark on the whiskey *raises a shot* Smooth.

I was meaning if I were really a mechwarrior, that'd be the kind of thing I'd have.
