No one but maybe PGI knows what the specs will be. I would start at looking to Crysis 2 on the PC's min specs and work from their as it is using the same engine. I also will guess that like MWLL which uses Crysis 1's engine, MWO will need higher specs than Crysis 2.

I'm just going to try and get the best computer I can afford to get by Summer.

My wife wants to get me an Alienware, but I would be happy with a standard, well designed Dell Laptop.

Edit: I also would think the developers will want to balance out system requirements so that they gain as many users as possible, correct? That means slightly older systems should be able to run the game with only a few kinks, while the newer systems should be able to run the game easily. IMHO.

MWLL uses the cry2 , this will use cry3 or am i wrong?

if your buying a new system I would focus on the video card most of all, thats what will make the most difference
(though the new intel chips are very powerful,even the budget chips)

Wrong, you shoukd focus on CPU power. In MWLL a lot of people have problems CPU wise, and upgrading their GPU does little. It is due to all the particle physicis the game needs to compute for the effects and such.

paraphrasing...

if talking intel I3 is ok-good, i5 is (in general) better, i7 is "best"

the big question is .... will you notice significant performance gains from i3 to i5 ... likely, from i5 to i7? mabie

the uograde from the i3 to i5 for gaming purposes is likely worth it, from i5 to i7 is questionable because very few current games actually are written (well) to support the additional cores. if mwo breaks the mold and actually supports 4+ cores and actually does anything useful with the additional cores then yes something like an i7 or the amd fx octicore processor MAY be a decient investment

May I recommend against Dell? you'll get much better deals/quality elsewhere. Especially if you're looking for a gaming PC;
For custom built systems;
Quality: http://www.pugetsystems.com
deal/ image: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com
http://www.ibuypower.com

You'll get much much better PCs for the cost that way.

At the cost of an i3, if you're looking for a budget PC, and looking at integrated / low end graphics, an AMD A8 APU is much better (especially in a laptop, given how heavily the internet is becoming graphics accelerated an A8 outperforms an i3 for day to day quite well overall unless you're just doing spreadsheets.) On a midend system, you've got a flip between an i3/i5 and an AMD FX series processor. An i7 dominates the top end.
however, mind you that most games won't use anything more than a quad core, and an FX-4100 (or Phenom II X4 if you get an older CPU) will be enough to play any game out there quite effectively. Graphics card wise at the mid end, you're looking at at least a Radeon HD 6850, 7770, or 6870. Nvidea doesn't have many good cards atm.

I got a Pc from ibuypower a couple years ago. it came with components strewn all over and many things not connected, overall it was still a good deal though.

And good for you!

Building puters isn't all that tough, and should be engaged in by more people!

I would put the requirements a little bit higher than Crysis 2 (considering large-scale battles).

MWLL is a little taxing CPU wise on older CPUs but it runs fine on a Sandy Bridge Celeron for example.

Cheers

Eh an Intel i3, i5, i7, or AMD FX will all do okay.
GPU Wise you're looking at a Radeon HD 6850, 6870, 6950, 7770, 7770 crossfire solution, 7950, 7970, and the only Nvidea GPU that has a price point that it is good at is the Nvidea GTX 570. AMD Radeon cards trump Nvidea at most every price point.

MY Radeon HD 5850 GPU works pretty decently for MWLL so i assume it will be just as good for MWO

I strongly suggest holding off if you can until they announce sytem specs. You can potentially save money if the specs aren't as high as you thought, and also save money by simply waiting and letting prices drop like they always do in the computer world. A top of the line video card now will have a few cards that are better by the time this game comes out.

Perhaps I will wait a week after we are playing, and grooving, or doing a herky **** before I buy my system. The info is good here though, thanks. So I should think about intel i7 ideally but maybe i5 practically, and to plan to expend my real cash on awesome vidio capabilties, then enjoy it for a few years?

Most warranties will not be three years on prebuilt systems, if you want a multi-year warranty generally you'll have to pay extra. Individually purchased components have much longer warranties than those found in prebuilt systems with no added cost.

Depends on where you get it from, for example there is a computer store in my town which has already quoted me on a PC. $25 more than building it myself, but they build it for me and I get a 3 year warranty. Which honestly, is more or less worth it in my opinion.
