This is great news to me having been a fan and player of this game from way back when and involved in multiplayer ranked clan drops online.
However the last I heard you needed a copy of the crysis game in order to play is that no longer the case ?
or was that strictly for Mechwarrior Living Legends that was being developed because it was just a mod?

MWLL needs crysis to play it. This is a stand alone product built on the cryengine3.

This is not a Crysis mod, this is a whole stand alone game. No need to own crysis, MWO is simply built on the CryEngine. It could have just as well been built on something like the Unreal Engine or Quake engine etc. Games do this all the time. 3D game engines are not easy to develope, and with some really good ones out there, why not just pay those guys to use their technology. It's faster for game development, and better quality for the rest of us.
Anyway, Sign up for the beta and maybe you will get in. In about a month MWO should go into Open Beta, then everyone will be able to play for free.

Hey there Double Helix, welcome to MWO.
I'm sure you are eager to play the game, and buying the founders pack will get you into beta.
But before you do so I hope you do not mind if I offer you some friendly advice about the current beta.
If you consider buying a founders pack, I recommend you take the time to read some of the Information on the packs and make an informed decision, and not just buy blindly to get into beta.
This is a real beta and not a preview of how the game will be when released.
Do not expect the game to be feature complete, bug free and expect performance issues.
Many have blindly bought the founders pack only for the beta access thinking they will see a "pre-release Demo" and not an actual beta, and get so disappointed they come to the forums and rage over how this game is buggy and whatnot and make blatant uninformed statements about how the game will fail.
All feedback is welcome, both positive and negative, but you will get far better responses if you are constructive with your feedback, and not post threads that just boils down to "This game sux", or you will get the community telling you "Its Beta".
Before you post feedback, take the time to read the stickies(Pinned) and other information around the forums, as in all likelihood the things you want to bring up has been explained already.
Dont let that discourage you from adding your opinion on things though, as long as you are constructive about it.
I'm not trying to discourage you from buying the packs, just trying to help you understand what you are getting when buying the packs, especially in regards to the beta.
I dont want you to buy the pack and then get angry because its not the finished game you expected it to be.
Hope you find this helpful.
