Here are my mech picks for the remaining four mechs (assuming 5 mechs per class)...

Light
Done

Medium
Dervish. High mobile fire support mech and fills the 55 tonnage gap (most uncertain). Old pick: Bushwacker :P
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Dervish

Heavy
Orion. Jack of all trades mech and fills the 75 tonnage gap.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Orion

Assault
Highlander. Jump jet mech and fills the 90 tonnage gap (cough PC Gamer).
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/highlander

Assault
Mauler. Ballistic mech and fills the 90 tonnage gap.

I think highlander will be mech #17. I'm going with the next medium as the Clint. And the next heavy as the Orion and possibly even as our hero mech too.

I'm thinking the hero mech is the Highlander.

Unless they hire more people you are already looking at something a year away.

We already got a missile medium with the Trebuchet, I don't know if the Dervish would be in, though they did say they were going to put in a 55 tonner which with the unseen doesn't leave too many of them. Would rather see the Vindicator myself.

Orion is a sure fire bet for Heavy. Should have been announced instead of the Flea - we've got tons of lights already but only three heavy 'Mechs so far, none of which top 70 tons.

Assault has had the Highlander leaked, which is somewhat disappointing; pretty much its just a jumping Atlas. Would have much rather seen the Zeus, but I guess I can live with the Highlander after seeing how awesome Alex has made it look.

I am pretty sure the hero mech will be a chassis already in game. Of course I was sure that mech 16 was going to be an assault, and it was pretty much the opposite.

My Guess:

Battlemech 17 10/10/12 - Highlander (Image from PC Gamer edition) just makes too much sense given the dates 2 weeks out to the day.
Battlemech 18 10/24/12 - Dervish or Gladiator to fill the 55 ton medium weight gap
Battlemech 19 11/07/12 - Black Knight or Orion to fill the 75 ton heavy weight gap
Battlemech 20 11/21/12 - Nightstar or Banshee to fill the 95 ton assault weight gap (after the assumed highlander)
Battlemech 21 ??/??/?? - A new light of some kind

The ones in bold are what I think the devs will go with. The dervish seems more common place then the Gladiator which if I am not mistken is outdated at this time period. The Orion seems a more balanced mech compared to the Black Knight but I am just doing a toss up. It's really more like 50-50. I believe the developers will go with the Nightstar because the Banshee is more or less a slightly weaker less heavy Atlas.

55 ton mech: Cronus

75 ton mech: Flashman, or Black Knight

95 ton mech: Nightstar

You must have missed the thread by the devs (it's pretty old now) of the poll asking players which 95 ton mech is their favorite. The listed options were banshee, banshee, and banshee. Guessing if we get a 95 ton mech, it might be a banshee. As for medium mechs, vindicator no question, it's a signature Liao mech right there with the Cataphract. And the Free Worlds League appreciates your Orion support :)

It's not that bad, only a 3+ year wait, since they went into production on 3053. (trust me, I'm looking forward to those three years passing. lol )

I think I remember that thread but I chalk that kind of stuff up to trolling. As for the Orion being FWL of course. If I wasn't signed up with the Dark Sabres I'd be with a FWL militia/corp.

I still think the Dervish will be the medium though.

So far all the mechs have been from TRO3039 and 3050, the 55 ton range only knows the following mechs: Dervish, Hoplite, Kintaro, Griffin, Scorpion, Shadow Hawk and Wolverine (Yes, these have all been listed in the Upgrade TRO's).

Well, my personal picks would be the following:

17: Highlander (we know it's coming)
18: Dervish
19: Orion
20: Javelin

No need for Dervish when we have Trebuchet. And we have already 3 mechs in the upper half of Medium weight scale (50-55) and only one in lower. I'd carefully suggest Blackjack. It stands out in some ways:

Many ballistic hardpoints in both arms, though arms w/o lower actuators (somewhat emulating Jagermech) - nothing comparable in any announced Medium. Jump jets (we need more jumping mediums, and they somewhat compensate for 4/6 speed Centurion and Hunch are hated for).

And variants are plenty and diverse as people in multi-culti Europe: main variant being ballistic+energy mix, others are non-jumping with more bias to energy weapons, energy only, energy +missiles, all of them available in 3050.
