From what I've seen, their only major commonality is that they're based on mechs. Hawken looks pretty neat, but it's a radically different game from what MWO will be.

Hawken is more akin to the amored core series in play style than MW. They'll do a demo vide when they're ready to showcase some stuff. Keep in mind that Hawken released those vids to get investor intrest and to generate some hype.

It is just a shooter disguised in some armor. Not anything I would like MW:O to become. :D

i will play both hawken and mechwarrior. Mechwarrior i love, but that doesn't mean one cannot enjoy other takes on the mech genre. and i really like the look of those weird looking hawken minimechs

When they were on the same engine, I fantasized about Hawken being the Protomech portion of combined arms...

This! Totally this!

Moving to OFF TOPIC since this isn't REALLY MWO related but Hawken related. :D

Hawken looks fun and interesting. I'm sure I'll play it.

But it scratches a totally different itch.

Mechwarrior is definitely more my style. Hopefully many of the casual "Joe Average" gamers out there will agree.

It was amazing to see how many people saw Hawken and said:
"zomg this is best mech game evar!"
... <points to mechwarrior> that my friend is a mech game.
Hawken is quite literally Tribes only with mech models
The only thing they seem to do awesome is art; every other aspect of their
gameplay video was boring as hell.

Hawken is what you get when no mechwarrior game is released inside of 5 years,
PGI show them how it's really done :D

-long live the true mech games-

That Hawkin video has been out for a long time and it uses the UDK engine just like what MekTek is using for Solaris Assault Tech.

If anyone is interested, here's an updated game site: *censored* :D

And they will be at GDC 2012. I hope they will not fight with PGI ;)

Paul and Matt (in hula skirts) will likely have Street Fighter-esque duel with Hawken developers dressed in ninja uniforms.
