You can learn controls by 2 ways. Either download Mechwarrior 4 Mercs from MTX or Fileplanet if MTX doesnt work. Or if you dont have extra space, try the demo for Mechwarrior 3 or 4 which can be found here

some controls are explained in this video: http://mwomercs.com/...deo/sh_yaMUW6eg

Also explained in this old dev blog http://mwomercs.com/...warfare-part-i/

Anyone already in the beta should check out the huge amount of resources available in the beta forum

Here is the most important thing """ STOP SHOOTING YOUR TEAM MEMBERS IN THE FLIPPIN BACK""" we do take damage and if you are that stupid to not see when you shoot at the enemy and a team mate is in front of you that you hot shooting the enemy but your team mate and helping the enemy kill your team mate you seriously need to go play wow, i am so sick and tired of people like this the devs seriously got to make it impossible to take damage from team members casue this happens so much cause there are so many dumb people this is one thing that will kill this game, people will eventual,ly get fed up with this.

Yes Heaven Knight. After you showed your A** in combat I wanted to see what kind of post you make. Yup. Pretty much the same.

who really needs these anyway? who would be dumb enough to jump into a game without opening the options menu and customizing the controls?

i think this is not about OPTIMIZING controls, but more about "how to learn driving a mech"

important: use "torso twist on mouse" and WASD for the legs, if you try it with MW4

i see many newer players get disoriented when they look to the side or nearly their back, but the mech walks somewhere else... ;) (in MW4 multiplayer that is *coughs* )

Aww let the rookies be rookies. More fun to see people running around with their mech all twisted in a knot confused.

Just played a round with that Heaven Knight buffoon. He immediately died then spectated me and just raged and raged in team chat cause I fell down a couple times in a commando in one of my first few game. Called me names, and told me to 'go back to WoW' (a game he then admitted to playing). Absolute childish toolbag. Judging from this post, and talking to him, he's really hung up on WoW, too.

As a person that has not played any Mech games sence Mercenary's came out, and to old to mention, I needed reminded where to customise the controls. So thanks for the post! In the old days I had a force feed back joy stick, made hitting anything next to impossible! Now I can't hit anything with a mouse! Safest place around me is in my sights!

As far as getting shot in the back, well just remeber I shoot back...

You know folks I played the BETA on AOL years back, other players pretty much taught me how to play, the game was free, it got to the point that I looked forward to coming home from work and getting into the game. We could meet in a room and if 2 of us wanted to drop and learn different mechs controls we could, during this process friendships developed between a certain group of us and that lasted for years. Heck, I didn't even mind paying for the game when Gamestorm/Kesmai charged $10 a month to play. We had groups of folks that traveled across the US to meet at other members homes for a weekend to meet each other face to face. I HAD FUN. Have fun people, hence the term "game". I just signed on and really have been waiting for this for some time. I hope to meet some of you and maybe we together can create that same atmosphere of gaming that we so enjoy. I saw where a group can be created, If we could maybe get it so we can gather with people we know and drop into battle like I spoke of earlier, can this be done now? Or does the game just randomly pick players to drop you with all the time like I have experienced so far? I kno no one here so maybe e-mail me at dakota6738@aol.com and we can come up with something. So far I have enjoyed the game and kudos to all involved in it's development, marketing, and just getting the damn thing up.

Thanks,
Dakota
