Its called Mechwarrior "Online" for a reason.

Releasing MechWarrior Online as free-to-play gives them a chance to make corrections. They have set a very high bar and need real world use to get it right. I want a single player version in the future; they have a chance now to build it the way we'd love it.

There's /nothing/ about the word 'online' that has anything to do with single player mode being viable or not allowed. Plenty of online games have single player activities that work fine. Given that /TRAINING SIMS/ are a very big part of the universe... I'm not sure where all this MP ONRY crowd is coming from.

*raises hand* Ooh, ooh, me, me....
I'm all for teaming up with strangers, in order to shoot other strangers.. but wouldn't mind doing my own little thing from time to time..
That being said, I'm looking forward to this game and having you all in my crosshairs.

Single player no way, this is an Online game, the whole idea is to play with other people. Now I wouldn't mind some PvE content that fleshes it out into a true MMORPG. Maybe content where you are yourself rather than piloting your 'Mech and you could do all sorts of quests outside your 'Mech as well as hop into your 'Mech to fight against attackers, and of course participate in PvP. It would have to be a more social, non-combat oriented game outside of the 'Mech. Spy games, intrigue, business, something.

I would actually rather have cooperative campaign style missions for MWO. Lets face it, with all the new and shiny stuff coming in this, I'd love to play it with friends both in PvP and a PvE format. But, games that are multiplayer dependent are better off creating cooperative missions for a campaign than they are a fully single player experience.

As far as Game play is Multiplayer is best , but that being said a single player game tells a story and that is sometimes what I want, and it is a great way to teach a little bit of Battle tech history to new players.
But they made it clear it isnt here at least not yet.

Not at launch. Not until the bugs are worked out of the MVP. Not until the balancing of Clan tech is resolved. Many, many months from now.
Much Laaaaaaaaater. If at all.

Please read through the Dev Blogs to find out exactly what we're doing.
It would be nice to do campaigns but at this moment we are focusing on nothing but solid multi-player combat.
