Not looking good for the 7800's
Edit: Finished reading the entire thing.
Summed up again great power consumption and heat from the AMD Cards.
The 7870 looks like it could be a great card depending of its retail pricing - A little disapointed the 6900 series currently produces better image quality with AA
The 7850 at the moment looks total junk, in almost all of those benchmarks it falls behind the 570, and in some the 560TI as well, also the fact both labs reported two different 7850's were totally unstable does not bode well.
Kepler will be indeed interesting, if Nvidia have it right this time around( and that is a huge if), AMD cards may be a hard sell this year.

I was also turned off by the fact that Pitcairn seems to have technical problems (particuarly the 7850), and these don't appear in Tahiti. I'm aiming for the 7870, though. I'm hoping the actual cards to be released at the end of the month won't have these annoying issues. Based on the article, the HD 7870's performance is comparable to the GTX 580, and it's about a hundred or so dollars cheaper. I'm liking that!
Since AMD released their 7xxx series earlier, they'll probably be able to do a few price cuts once Kepler comes out. I'm actually holding off any hardware upgrades until MWO hits Open Beta. That's when I'll make my final decision, and by that time, I'm hoping Kepler will be out (and damn competitive price and performance-wise) so I have a lot more choices.

I'm looking to upgrade as well. Did you notice the nVIDIA logo at the end of the trailer? I hope that doesn't mean there won't be Eyefinity support.

Games wise, they are using the same ones. IF you actually read the review, the 7850's were locking up crashing etc. That's bad cards.
If your trying to imply that Toms Hardware is out to get AMD, don't you think they would have mocked up tests that do not show the 7870 in such a good light?
Even anandtech in the final review is not complimentary towards the 7850.

Wasn't defending the 7850 nor was I saying Toms Hardware was out to get AMD. And there are slight variations between the games the two reviewers used. In any case, I've been running AMD/ATI cards for the last forever, as well as running an AMD processors, so I have nothing against the company. Also I love Toms Hardware, I was merely commenting how different reviewers can have very different experiences.
Case in point, awhile back, ASUS released their shiny 890FX motherboard, the Crosshair IV Formula. By all accounts it was an amazing motherboard, but a couple reviewers (and several customers, sadly including myself) ended up with a faulty model in that the screws holding down the heatsink to the northbridge were a bit too long and thus there wasn't enough contact to keep the heatsink flush. Therefore, overheating, yay.
tl;dr- Sometimes a bad device gets sent out.
