I think he already tried that out once. If I'm not mistaken he has one on his Deviantart scrapbook page.
Sorry if someone's already pointed this out

Am I the only one who saw this in the original TRO and thought ' someone catch it quick, it's about to fall backwards'?

EDIT: Damn, the list of IS 55 tonners is slim pickings! The majority of the favorites like the Shadow Hawk are unseens while the others aren't available in 3049 like Bushwacker. I was thinking there'd be a better choice available, but really, Dervish is about the best pick you can get all things considered. About the only other choice that would have been neat was a Scorpion, for Quad novelity.

I love you all.
From the mess of the three, I would have to go with the Dervish.
If i was given a 4th "other choice", or could make my own list it would include, Shadow Hawk, Wolverine, Griffin and Gladiator, in that order.
Shadow Hawk is "Reseen" as is the Wolverine.

Kintaro - carries a lot of up close firepower, fast, and well armored, but limited heat sinks. Additionally the purported 'double reticle' seems like it would cause problems for a mech with similar weapons spread across its arms and torso, especially missiles which may have a lock time.
- Roles: this mech seems at home in the scout or assault/defend role, where its fast movement, heavy armor, and powerful close range weapons can make it a sustained threat the entire battle.
- Comparables: Relatively unique short range missile boat, it probably compares best hunchback in weight and function, although its damage delivery model and speed place it closer to a Commando or Javelin.
Hoplite - reminds me of my beloved Griffin (weapon-wise) but wearing Thunderbolt pants (armor). On the other hand it is ugly and slow. I can live with ugly, but slow may be a problem for a mech lacking close range weaponry.
- Roles: moderate movement, heavy armor, and long ranged weapons lend themselves to Command or possibly assault role.
- Comparables: very very similar to the Centurion.
Dervish - I've always like the looks and concept of this mech, although it spreads its self a little thin. A jack of all trades and master of none. This is also a mech that can take full advantage of the 'double reticle' if implemented, having fast-tracking arm mounted weapons for close range, and torso mounted LRMs for ranged combat.
- Roles: the speed and versatility of this mech make it a good candidate for scout or command, but its unfocused array of weapons may make it an unlikely option for assault/defend roles.
- Comparables: a medium version of the catapult and potentially similar to Whitworth, Trebuchet, or 2 assassins (if they are released)
This was a very tough decisions for me (hence the lengthy process above), but I have to with:
Dervish (and a close second to Kintaro). The dervish is just a coole design and I'd love to see the FD version.

When you get to heavy 'mechs consider this one. http://www.sarna.net...es_(BattleMech) Looks solid and I've never seen the Hercules in a MechWarrior game.
The Bushwacker didn't appear until 3053, the Hercules in 3054. Be a couple of years before we'd get to see those, the current polls are for chassis we could have in 3049.
Back on topic, Dervish. While I'd love to see FD play with a Hoplite (and boy does the Hoplite need it), I never liked it. Lose the LB-10X and you're humped. It also doesn't carry nearly enough ammo to remain combat effective, a mere 2 tons of AC and a single ton for the LRMs. The ONLY saving grace is 11.5 tons of armor...which is impressive. The Kintaro, while not a favorite of mine, is respectable. Good speed for a 55 tonner, nice mix of weapons, decent protection. My only gripe with it is if the left arm is taken out, you lose LRM-5 and one of the SRM-6s, which seriously hampers it's firepower.
The Dervish has always been one of my workhorse designs, I don't think I've ever built a unit without one, it's a solid all-rounder. Decent long-range and indirrect fire support with good, close range firepower if things get messy. Good speed for a support design, jump capable, tad light on the armor (7.5 tons isn't a lot, but enough).

Lawl. Center of gravity much?
From that list? Dervish for sure. From 3050 or before? Shadowhawk probably. For any 55 ton beast?
BUSHWACKER BUSHWACKER BUSHWACKER!!
Story twist: Davion uses a time machine to send Bushwackers in time, so people that play timeline-restricted video games can have a great time using the best mech ever?

Depends on which variant you are looking at. The original Kintaro design included a Narc, and LRM - 5, 2 SRM - 6, and 2 medium lasers. If this is an allowed variant in the game, I would seriously get it. (Source: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Kintaro)
