Will the game be Windows only? Or will it be compatible with both systems? I'm just wondering because I really don't want to play with VMWare, or even setting up a computer with Windows on it.

I believe as it currently stands, it is a Windows PC title only. There has been discussion that the first hurdle to jump would be to get the CryEngine 3 (which powers MWO) to be compatible on Macs, and I don't know if Crytek has an interest in doing this. (haven't checked)

It would probably be better to boot camp win 7 then trying to run this game in an a virtualized version of win 7

In your place i would start thinking about buying a PC instead or atleast taking Mezlabor's idea. There is a good chance VMWare won't be enough to properly play MWO.
