But you can fire machine guns all the time w/out generating heat <- that's good
& when you put a CPlasma Cannon, CPPCx2, CCoolantPodx2 & CLBXAC20x2 (on a Daishi) = Dead 'Mechs.

Can't be worse than the Cicadabomb, I'm sure. At least Clan 'Mechs have the protection of a built-in CASE.

They are both quite viable weapons, especially on light/mediums. I have used a few 'mechs with machine guns/flamers with success. While they do not hit for a ton of damage on their own, they do well to compliment the variable fire of lasers/missiles/ballistic arms. Harassing an 80 ton while they desperately try to get you is always fun as well :)

12 machine guns, 1 Clan ER small and Clan 2 ER medium lasers hit as hard as a IS mech with 2 SRM6s, 1 med laser and 2 large lasers.
Beautiful.

As for ammo explosions, it is a 20 ton mech, it will be crippled if you land on a blow on it anyway. :)
