I keep seeing this mention of renting from the FAQ and I did a search and it's not mentioned anywhere int he dev blog or FAQ. Willl you all stop speculating until they give us more info. It's sounds stupid.

seems to be capt-bishop going off his face with speculation based on a misreading of one of the interviews.

Believe that was in reference to the F2P(free to play) concept where someone could pay X amount of dollars and for a X amount of time get access to a higher class BM. ie renting a mech. But as the developers said, no cash transactions will be able to give you a tactical advantage, renting an Atlas would definitely do that, so not gunna happen.

I think what is going to happen is you'll start off in an UrbanMech, and an Atlas will cost $9000, better start saving! ;-) Also, yes people like to take things out of context and just make **** up. On a serious note, I've not seen anything about renting, however, it does say you'll be able to purchase new mechs and components with RL cash.

It's not all that unheard of. Besides APB. Combat Arms does it as well for weapons and special characters. So the idea that they might let us "rent" mechs for cash that we can't afford with c-bills isn't that far-fetched.

That said I have never paid cash for rentals. Permanent stuff, yes. Rentals I don't see it happening.

So much for this campaign. Just one more mission and I could afford that two bed/two bath back on Outreach!

'Mech prostitution, however, will remain a thriving vice industry...

*spits* Naw, that ain't coolant, that's a special rinse we use to polish it up. Yeah. Cuz y'see, we give 'em all one o' them warsh 'n' rinses, make 'em shine good an' proper-like.
</s'uth'in drawwwwwwwwwwl>

I think the entire idea of 'renting' a 'Mech is just silly... and whatever Chicken Little decided to start crowing about that one is just foolish.
