I have one particular question about the controls: when you move your mouse around, without the free look toggle button pressed, will the torso (its reticule) still lag behind? If yes, is there a way to lock the mouse control to the torso movement?

It does take ammo. I believe 40 shots per ton. IIRC. Considering it's use, I think it just makes more sense done as a fuel based weapons than as a fusion gas leak. There are so many technical holes in the original weapon system's viability I don't know where to start.

I'm smelling ammo bay fires, and ejecting ammunition. That would be AWESOME! <fingers crossed>

Screenshot looks great!

Looking back at that screenshot again..... Is that underground or in a cavern? Look to the walls......then to the ceiling. Not a good place to face off BIG AL......

And what mech cockpit are we looking at? The viewport is octagonally framed. Is this an Atlas looking at an Atlas?

Definitely looks underground and appears to go deeper. Possible mining complex scenario?

And yea going by the armor readout it is an atlas cockpit facing an atlas.

Wowzers, colour me impressed.

Though fair to say, I've been a shade of impressed since the beginning.
love everything about it. love the convergence targeting, the reticules, the weapon groupings, joysticks. And it looks damn swanky to boot. Everything.

Though I Think you should have commissioned me to make a ten foot Atlas for your GDC booth...

Lets see how Joystick users will handle themselves.

I thank the developers for considering it as a valid choice. Its easy to use just as I said and will make more people able to play it without extra gear.

Gotta love perception...

Thanks for suggesting the control scheme, now please suggest they give all the BETA testers T-shirts and MW:O 'coolant' (seriously who's calling it water? pfffttt!).

alrighty even with convergence you should still be able to aim single weapons from a single spot better than waiting for convergence by aiming multiple weapons mounted in different spots???? Or even different weapons say large laser and ac mounted on rifleman arm with two different groups, such that when you switch groups your reticle changes angles based on new weapon mountings allowing for more accurate fire, yet causing the pilot to have to switch reticles and reaim each time, while also trying to adjust for bounce from movement and targeting time, etc.....

yeahhhhhhhh

  • In the original Mechwarrior games (or maybe I'm thinking of Starsiege or some other game) you used to be able to use either the numpad or regular number keys (I can't recall which) to set the throttle quickly (ex: push numpad7 for 70%). Is that going to be an option?
  • Are we going to be able to use a mouse + mousewheel for firing / choosing weapon (groups)? The article made it sound like they keyboard was the only way to do that.
